Lys Agnes – Bring Me To Life – America’s Got Talent
Lys Agnes sings Bring Me To Life on America’s Got Talent
Her opera technique is so awful. Sheesh. Oh wait, apparently she’s sick tonight. Hmmm…
Piers Morgan – Finally you do something that moves me.
Sharon Osbourne – Took my breath away.
Howie Mandel – Your classic beauty. You know what I want to do to you?

Got Something to Add?
Ricky, TOTALLY agree with you. It's her looks that get votes. Sadly most people don't know good classical singing from bad.
I think she is a good singer but she destroyed the song Bring Me to Life. Singing it the way she did opera style doesn't work for that song at all, and I'm an opera singer myself and I wouldn't have sung it that way at all. i would have mix my opera voice with a contemp. sound.
I listened to Jai Mc Dowell he was horrible compared to Lys Agnes come on people she is much better than him. he could hardly get going on the last half of the song.
If you opera snobs can't see the potential of Lys Agnes, I thought she did a good job for not having any training, just think of what she could do with some training, some of those opera singers just sounded like they were screeching, The only one that was half way decent was Beverly Sills and that was hard to listen to. I love Lys Anges and her beautiful voice. I guess I just don't like opera much.
I though Alys was very good for an amature, apparentely you can't see the potential of this girl, I am sure she is not professionally trained and has a lot to learn, compared to everyone else on that show she shines above all.
Ok, Rickey. I was about to say that her singing sounded not bad at all to me, but maybe I have no opera standards. Well, her rendition is just OK.
I get sooooooo tired of the negative comments on this girl all the time...someone is voting for her for a reason...and I am one of them...she is very talented and I enjoy her performances!
Jai McDowalls version of Bring Me To Life (our Britains Got Talent winner) was far better than this version!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hut1XFy671g if people havent seen it :)
TWO WORDS: JAI MACDOWELL. He's the Scottish guy that beat Ronin Parke in the last Britain's Got Talent. Jai sang a dramatic version of "Bring Me to Life" that was just like this performance. The arrangement was copied almost exactly. Lys sounded weak to me.
Ummmmm, let's see, I can't believe you all are missing the big picture here!!!!! How in the hell can howie get away with saying to that lady....u know what I want to do to you. What the hell, he's lost his perverted mind. And to think he has a family at home waiting on him.
Again, I don't know what "good" opera is. Can you provide an example of what your standards are so we can have something to go on? :)
Who do you want to go through rickey?
I want Melissa Villasenor, Team iLuminate, Zuma Zuma, and West Springfield Dance Team
When did this show become "America has potential"?
Sorry, Lys Agnes *may* have operatic potential (it sounds like she has a big voice, at least) but if so, she needs a *lot* of training to achieve it. As is, pretty much any upperclass or graduate classical voice student at a decent university would blow her off the stage; comparisons with folks like Sills, Damrau, etc. are simply absurd.
Are you a vocalist or just someone who loves music? I ask, because a singer can tell when someone doesn't have good technique or poor breath control. I don't care about someone's weepy story, I want to see that they are deserving of being called a good singer. She is good enough for the local community theater but not in the same league as true professionals like Rickey mentioned above. This girl lacks strong technique and breath control. She was also off key some as well.
ahh but we over here feel the same about the American Idol acts :) Id love to see James over in the UK :) Jai is a fabulous singer (my youtube channel is @lisa12000 loads of videos of him on there) but as importantly he is a fantastic guy who i have had the pleasure to meet a few times :)
I think you will definitely get to see One direction, simon is determined that they are going to crack the US so you'll have many opportunities i think :)
Lisa, I wish they would bring more of the BGT and X Factor (UK) talents to the U.S. You are lucky to have the opportunity to see Jai perfrom live :) My little girls will be lucky if One Direction ever came for a concert in the U.S.
lol that serves me right not to read all the comments!! As a brit ive had the total pleasure in seeing Jai perform this song live a few times and can honestly say she is not fit to lace his boots!!
I was thinking the exact same thing. The Weeping Angel will Kill you DONT BLINK.
Doctor Who reference and cant wait for Saturday for the next part of the season to start up.
Since she is a mezzo soprano, I am not sure coloratura soprano examples others gave provide a good comparison. These are different interpretations of habanera from Carmen by different mezzo sopranos today (I specifically choose today singers), this is the aria Lys Agnes sang a couple of weeks ago, so you can compare:

(I love Garanca, but Rinat is my favorite in this role today)

Now, just for reference, this is a trailer for Met documentary "The Audition" which is a documentary about young singers competing in the most prestigious opera competition in North America. These are finalists. The quick music clips give an idea about how finalists at a prestigious opera competition sound like, keeping in mind that even being a winner doesn't guarantee a job, only a foot in the door.
Some Queen of the Night from YouTube:

Just think about how amazing it would have been had they done the whole springboard thing while on fire over spikes if a) the guys were blindfolded and b) she played a keytar and sang while doing flips in the air.
LOL!!! I couldn't believe the piano started flipping over. I loved them in previous rounds, but this was a massive fail.
Thanks for asking. I want the upside down singing woman to go through.
BEST ACT EVER.
(hahahahaha x 1010101)
Well, she's pretty. Somebody will look at her and say -- nice hair, nice eyes, nice skin, OK voice, but we can do something with that....just like Pia! LOL....kidding aside, she can be a very mesmerizing singer if somebody takes her under management. But I agree with Rickey, she sounded bad....for an opera singer.
My opera standards are really high. My Broadway standards sometimes. She's not a good opera singer at all! She can't even sing this non-opera song properly. Awful.
