Lillie McCloud is Nicole McCloud – The X Factor USA 2013 – Video
The X Factor contestant Lillie McCloud is actually Nicole McCloud. She has recorded four albums and had a hit single in 1994 on the US Dance Charts.
She lived in Slovakia for a few years and sang the theme song for the “Got Talent” show in 2010: “?esko Slovensko má talent.”
Lillie McCloud sang “Alabaster Box” during her audition on The X Factor Season 3.
So does this matter? Maybe. To some people.
LeRoy Bell who was on The X Factor Season 1 had also recorded numerous albums before he appeared on the show. He’s a seasoned musician and the rule for these talent shows is: for as long as you are not currently signed, you can audition. Nigel Lythgoe himself from American Idol has explained that rule numerous times in defense of contestants like Lillie McCloud.
What do people expect? Some of these contestants who audition for these talent shows are actual working musicians. A lot of The Voice contestants have made indie albums before. A lot of the America’s Got Talent contestants have worked in the industry before appearing on the show.
There is big benefit from having people like this on a talent show: You actually get good singing. This is why The Voice has been successful.
Apparently, those up in arms over Lillie McCloud aka Nicole McCloud still don’t get it. Their loss.
I for one will enjoy the singing. Lillie McCloud was fantastic. And it’s actually a blessing for all of us that she is being introduced to a new generation of fans.
Incidentally, Carlito Olivero who was the first audition on The X Factor Season 3 was a member of Menudo formed from the Making Menudo reality show from MTV.

Who cares about her path!! We need her Voice NOW!!! Somebody let her get away once...never again. Even if she doesn't win X Factor You best believe we will not let her voice go silent again...You go Mz Lillie with your beautiful Chocolate Skin and your commanding presence. I love you and thank you for touching millions of watchers with one of the most powerful thank you songs to the Master himself...
This is what you don't understand. The music business as I know it and experienced a bit of it, they may use
her to make the show, but will not promote her any further. she does look excellent but, in the music industry if
it is still the same way want a younger, fresher look with a different voice. They are looking for uniqueness. Even
though she has great talent, her voice sounds too familiar. A artist has to fit in their own category not sounding like
the average great singer. I may have mastered Whitney Houston songs, but they already had a Whitney Houston
and trust me as great and formidable as she was, they are not looking for another Whitney. She made her mark.
You have to be different. First all she came with that old 70's look, not update fashion. Big Afro, tight leather
suit showed her age but not her physical appearance. That's is why I said she had her chance. She had a record
label and that that. That's just the way it goes sometimes, unless the business change. I doubt it.
so what, the gal is a good singer, no she's a great singer, so what she has a past!
of course these programmes are edited for the viewer to get them motivated and get them going. That's how these guys make their money. When we dial with our phones in our millions to vote for the one we like.
if you don't like what they do, stop watching and stop your bitchin and moanin.
Bottom line you either like her or not. She deserve a chance looking like that at 54.

what kind of fool does Simon take viewers to be....the second i watched her audition i smelled a rat.....i was like shes like way too professional.....and reminded me of Sinnitta ....one of Simons UK dream girls...and sure enough shes got a past.....its not so much that she is a pro....its the way they deliberately neglect to point all this out to viewers.....its part of the issue of have with the Voice as well...way too many contestants looking for a second or third chance....makes me wonder now about that poor old woman who sings in the subway now....whats her real story!!!!
Talent is definitely not in question. The producers make decisions to spin a tale of woe for some of the contestants who show promise. I've never had a chance.....This is my time.....I only sing on Sundays.....I always wanted to do this.....My family tricked me into coming here..... It's tiresome, let the talent shine along with the truth....the whole truth.
The producers seem to tell part of the story, they think the audience identify with someone who is plucked out of an ordinary life into stardom, that for some reason we will like them more so that translate into watching more and voting. It's more likely that we will find out about their previous work because the information is so easily found now on the internet. This story telling style makes the show look ingenuous and it's more irritating that they leave a piece of the narrative out.
The audience will watch and vote, but if the show continues to make these mistakes their viewership may dwindle. Hope they are reading and watching these comments.
Yes, she has a great voice and there are others on this season's show but none that have had the partial success she has had in her past career. I just want everyone to be open to those on this show as they are looking for success in a career that success does not come easy. This is why I used the winner & runner up in what I had to convey my reasons for my opinion on this issue. Tate & Carly both had recording contracts before they ever were on the show but the producer did not share that with the public. Now I am the type to look into the back ground of anyone I take an interest in when listening to these shows. When Simon did a number on Jeffrey Adam Gutt who sang "Hallelujah" it made me angry sense he allowed these two plus others to be on the show that had star back grounds. Its just that they never made it big. Jeff Gutt walked from the contract when it came to Dry Cell so he never had the big career that this woman did have. If she had the right backing or promotions she would have been a name in the music business. So lets all calm down & listen to the contestants & vote accordingly. I won't be voting for her but I understand where she is coming from. My votes will be for Jeff Gutt (that is if the spoilers have it right & he made it to the show). I have followed his gigs since last season's show & the man has one awesome voice. This lady has an awesome voice, also, but I already have my favorite in mind for this season. Watch & listen & make up your mind who deserves your votes.
Totally agree that the issue is not the contestants but the producers of the show. They are told what they can convey to the audience so that rating will rise. Personally, I think they played this woman as they told her what she could say then leaked the info to news so that travesty would arise for the rating of the show. Its to hell with the contestants & what effect this will have on their lives because they care about are the ratings.
The rules state only current contract not a past one. Tate Stevens from last season had a recording deal back in 2006 & had records 4 sale online w/Amazon & iTunes but he did not make it big so he went on show. The Carly Rose is another as she was a Broadway & TV child star who had a recording contract & had recordings online 4 sale once again with Amazon & iTunes. Hey, the list goes on. As long as contract is not current then there is no problem.
Not just the talent show but also the "Showdance" theme song (both in Slovakia): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=By_zW6oJbQY. I recognized her immediately...
@Girl4Music21 is there any regulation about it? How come X-Factor allow 'stars' to do the auditions & get yes-es? So UNFAIR, for the newbies
@edfarshi Like I said. she does have great talent, but the music industry is so damn finicky. when
it comes too age that matters a lot. because they are looking at their investments, and how much of
time that can put into before a wrinkle or cellulite pops up on your legs or face. She doesn't look
fifty -four, but if you checked out her outfit she was wearing and her Afro it represented the styles
and era she came from. They may use her to further the show, but I guarantee that is far as she
will go. The music industry recognized this woman was out there and didn't blow up big than, and
probably betting she wont make a big come back now. So, they will play her game until the last
wire is pull. They wont the young in this music business. Some they can control and have not
been under no contract. Also they are looking for unique talent. Not another Whitney Houston,
even though she was formidable singer, fantastic. She made her mark. They are hungry for
@djfabian many musicians do not make the money we all think they do. Nor do they have great careers that are easy. Very few make it without backing in some manner. Before they did make it but greed in the business by record producers has taken that aspect away. Then some got seen by the right person (someone in the business that had or was making it) that took them under their wing and helped them by having them playas an opener for their shows or concerts. Look at Casey James (hopefully you know whom I speaking of here as he is from American Idol) who has been trying to make the big scene &gets part way there but not quite big enough. The music business is every expensive to be in. So he has been doing gigs that are low key but has been noticed by Taylor Swift. He is now her opening act on the Red Tour. I am so happy for him as he is one awesome talented young man. Has a great voice but a truly awesome ability on the guitar. he can make that instrument sing. His videos he put out show he has the acting ability also that is needed in the business. Doesn't hurt he is eye candy to boot. But what you must understand he needed someone who has made it BIG to help him take the step he needs to get where he wants to go with is career. That is what this show is about and others like it to get people seen to help them get that boost. Without American Idol would have know what he was capable of. It got him noticed and he has kept with it and now he is getting somewhere. He is hitting the scene and its about time. But without the AI show he would have had that airtime to get the punch he needed to make the ball get rolling. Or lest look at the Band Perry who are getting a name known and now are on their way towards a World Tour under the title Pioneer. The got noticed by Garth Brookes and from there they have made they way up. Its been a long road even though they are young as Kimberly is 30, Reid 24 & Neil 23 they have been at the music business for right at 15 years. They are now the band that promotes striving to feed the hungry worldwide. They are an awesome band with one huge great cause that put their talents to fight for that got help from others that had made it to get themselves shown in the limelight. What is simply happening is that musicians are going the route of shows like this rather than the route the Band Perry took because very few get the opportunity to get help like the Band Perry as these opportunities are few. So these shows are taking the place of using mega stars to help career get going. that poor woman in the subway needs to reach out to shows like this or someone like you needs video her & submit the video to a show like this for viewing so that they can contact her for the show. Reach out help as many musicians are struggling to make it in the market today.
@cabcomp Hope they do read these comments, also. But just in case they don't take the time to go on their web site & under this lady's video leave your opinion & under Simon's name (as you have the ability to leave him opinions too) and write about your opinion on leaving out the back grounds of the contests. But, also understand there will others like me who will look up all contestants back grounds & present them online on YouTube & website of show so that the public can know what the back grounds are. The show may try to get the one up on us but they will not. The Voice has learned to be up front because people will look & share. I still believe this show does this so that there is publicity issues and up the ratings. I agree they should be open from the beginning and let the contestants tell their story and then let the public decide how they wish to see the issue. Be upfront and honest from get go.
@cabcomp Well that the dirty music industry. It's all about entertainment. You just have to know how to play the game and get in the click of things. Once you know how to climb the ropes, you will see a lot of doors open up for you, you just need that one person to invest in your dream. It only takes one, to say yes, I trust that they I can sale you to the public, and than your own, hopefully you won't lose your soul behind all the fame and fortune.
@Donna Padilla You are correct, I agree with you now that I got my head on straight. But, what
about the amateurs who never got a break , but who have awesome amazing talent and never
got a contract. The bottom line , Lillie McCloud had her fame and opportunity. In a way I feel
that is cheating. She have the experience and she knows exactly how to move the audience, but
what about those voices that are out their and unique and never got a chance! I'm not saying that
she should cast in her career and talent, because she haven't had a hit in years, I believe, but
people like her there should be another source for them to go to boost back up their career,
perhaps radio or television performance, without all the competition in between. These shows
I believe is frankly for not star back ground artist. These shows should be only for those who
are unknown and desperate seeking a break through.
@AysaNovira But they are actually changing peoples stories and even their names to cover it up so no one will realize. It's really wrong.
@AysaNovira I just think a show like that should be cancelled. It's bad enough they're letting it happen and accepting it.
@AysaNovira And when you compare that to those who aren't. It's not fair comparing their talent. One already has the advantage.
@AysaNovira But now I've found that out I know why she was incredible. It's because she's already professionally trained and experienced.
@AysaNovira See I personally picked out Lillie McCloud out of the first batch of auditions because she was incredible.
@AysaNovira But with them lying to us I haven't got a clue who genuinely deserves to have a shot and who doesn't.
@AysaNovira Yes, it's unfair still but least I can pick out for myself who deserves to win and who doesn't and support that person.
@AysaNovira They're not even being honest about it. See if they we're honest I'd still support them.
@AysaNovira And see what X Factor are trying to do is change the contestants story and background, even their names so it's not obvious.
@AysaNovira Yes the rule is "No one with a record deal, past or present is allowed to perform on these shows" it goes for all of them.
@Donna Padilla @djfabian You are so correct. The musicians always been in a struggle, and I have an idea where you coming from. My in law is a great musician and have been playing all over the place. he has been beating the drums ever since he
was kid and traveled around the world to get exposure, but like you said, if you don't go about this the right way, you can end of chasing your tail for years and thought of playing for Taylor Swift would be only a fantasy. Musicians are poor and work long hours. Tell you the truth I wouldn't no how to help these guys advanced their careers could you give me some tips. How do you support people like that? I mean they
live a bizarre life style , underpaid, and unfairly appreciated and they are often used by the best.
@sillyraye @Donna Padilla talent when it comes to the American people wins out unless producers piss them off. I believe Simon pissed off the public when he did not put Jeffrey Adam Gutt through last season but did the top 10 that he did. Everyone of them had past pro work in the music business. Everyone as I looked them up & posted it for all to see. To have push Jeff out saying he had his chance when in reality he did not when compared to others on show made me angry. So then voting got skewed. Because if try to make fools out of the American people they will turn it around on you as they did Simon when he got caught in the game he played. Many know Jeff from Dry Cell but have never realized that he walked on contract because he was not in agreement with negotiations plus he had found out he was to be a dad. Which turned into being a single dad. Those who have had no experience on pro level as she has but have talent will win out. The American public will make sure. I have no problem with this lady going on the show as I believe in the American every day joe public will show their opinion in voting. In the end the true talent that needs this boost will get it. Plus you must remember that its not always the winner that makes it big from these shows. Usually someone in the top 5 (sometime more than just 1 in the top 5) make it big. Bigger than the winner. All they needed was to be seen & have public opinion behind them on YouTube (as that is where many talent producer go to for talent) for them to get a contract. Plus the show does not just award the winner as they find talent they believe in and put their muscle behind such as Fifth Harmony. fifth Harmony did not win but they are making it huge- worldwide. So believe in the show because the American public will show their strength.
@Girl4Music21 someone on YouTube commented the video and wrote that Lillie's actually named Nicole McCloud & I was like "do they even know?"
@Girl4Music21 @AysaNovira No it states that they can not have a current contract what their past was does not matter. If what u stated was true Tate Stevens could not have won last season as he had a past recording contract & even had songs on sale w/Amazon & iTunes. & then Carly Rose could not have been on show wither as she was a child Broadway & TV star who had a past contract 2. She had recordings online 4 sale on Amazon & iTunes 2. So remarks are not true. Both had past but not current while on show. That's all rules state.
@Girl4Music21 - That's not the rule. Get your facts straight (and correct) so that you'll have at least some credibility.
@Girl4Music21 BUT THE REALITY IS?! Whose fault is this? Yes I thought Lillie's completely new to this industry but then I found out bout her
@AysaNovira But I doubt she'll be happy with it whatever the case.
@AysaNovira I don't know about that. Maybe she doesn't know or maybe she just has no choice and it's in her contract to keep quiet.
@AysaNovira And Demi was like "I feel like your time wasn't supposed to happen until now" her time has been and gone.
@AysaNovira I mean Lillie/Nicole stated that she was a stay at home wife with grankids and that she hasn't really had a shot.
@AysaNovira And then size it up to what they had been told on the show itself. They'll be angry that they were lied to.
@AysaNovira The might not be familiar with the name even so, but when they search it up and read about all she has done.
@Girl4Music21 @AysaNovira - Leona did NOT have a record deal before she entered X Factor UK. Again, get your facts straight (and correct) so that you'll have at least some credibility here.
@AysaNovira Simon Cowell is the slyest of all. He is a manipulative and controlling and well.. just a prick really. He destroyed music.
@Girl4Music21 just like me... yeah well thank you for your REALLY long explanation about the show! LOL it opens my mind about 'sly' business
@Girl4Music21 that's shifty & for me it's awkward that my idol is the judge, lol. Me too, I'm far from USA but I still watch the show anyway
@AysaNovira Because they don't really care. They're the powerful people. No one can really do anything about it but protest.
@AysaNovira But I won't even do that because in a way I am still supporting by taking an interest in it.
@AysaNovira I mean for me personally I can't give the show a rating anyway because I don't live in America. I watch online.
@Girl4Music21 but how come they make these things happen without caring/knowing that people will find out the truth? I'm perplexed. I mean--
@AysaNovira But covering it up makes it 100x worse for me. They will not have my support or my rating.
@AysaNovira I refuse to do either. I already think it's wrong they're mixing professionals with amateurs anyway.
@AysaNovira They'll still watch it reguardless and still support the same people that lied to them.
@Girl4Music21 even though there's many people been fooled, some of them realized it, and I can even easily google the real facts... but --
@AysaNovira And I feel sorry for those who genuinely haven't had a shot and really deserve one now. They just don't stand a chance.
@AysaNovira But looks like they are trying the same old manipulative trick and system they always have done. It's sad. Seriously it is.
@AysaNovira You would think they would have learned their lesson by now with Leona Lewis from the UK show who already had a record deal too.
@AysaNovira why the hell should you have support? That's how I see it.
@AysaNovira What you're being told on the show is not the truth and when you can't be honest with your watchers
@AysaNovira They co through the complications to manipulate something to hide the truth of it and that's very wrong. It's criminal actually.
@AysaNovira Yes, still unfair to all the others. But honest. And that's all they really needed to do. But instead they change her story.
@AysaNovira See if she was simply just asking for another shot because the last few failed and she mentioned that. It would be fine.
@AysaNovira You might have failed or given up but that still doesn't allow you the right to lie to your watchers.
@AysaNovira Well when you already have 4 albums under your belt and major label deals you haven't been "hiding" anywhere.
@Girl4Music21 yeah, & when I watched Lillie's performance, the judges were like "Where have you been hiding?".. IDK that I completely fooled
@AysaNovira Two wrongs don't make a right and if that's how anybody looks at it they are fools. X Factor are playing you!
@AysaNovira And then the show for not only allowing them to get away with it but actually protecting them and helping them cover it up.
@AysaNovira It's both the contestants fault and the show's fault. The contestant for auditioning and thinking they can get away with it.
