Rickey is right; these shows need real talent, and you don't just wake up one day and sing with control and poise in front of a million people.  Ever check the listings on a weekend in LA or Chicago and see how many music acts are playing.  Hundreds every night.  And so few get any attention from the broader public.

@khaleesi I don't get the hype either, nothing current in that voice and phrasing

@Rickey I agree. She is a superstar. There's no doubt about it. No one on the show is even in her league. However, the show decided to not reveal her past and portrayed her as an unknown when in fact she has toured with big name stars. I don't hold that against her, since she is at the mercy of the producers, but fans don't like being deceived. At least on The Voice the producers appear to be honest about the contestants' past.. I think that will hurt her with votes. JMHO.

@Idolwild - I don't agree.  She's definitely not a superstar by any stretch of the imagination, but I do agree with everything else you said here.

@Idolwild @Rickey I, uh...I don't care about her past. Honestly, all I want is a talented female singer to wow me on that stage every week.

@Idolwild I ignore all of that now because I like to hear good singing on these shows. Most of the "sob stories" fly by me these days. They are mostly "exagerrated" so I don't take them too seriously.
