Lee Dewyze – The Letter – Video MP3 American Idol Top 11
Lee Dewyze sings The Letter on the American Idol Top 11
Rickey: Lee sounded really great! Go Dark Horse!
Randy Jackson: It’s cool you chose the bluesy version of this song.
Ellen DeGeneres: My favorite pen is back. That was fantastic.
Kara DioGuardi: You’ve raised the bar for yourself.
Simon Cowell: That to me was not a recording performance.

Got Something to Add?
I hope it's no coincidence that he decided to do the Joe Cocker version of a Box Tops song, since Alex Chilton (the original singer of The Letter) died last Wednesday. I would HOPE that Lee is cool enough to remember Alex Chilton, that someone on AI would have made tribute. Or, it could just be a coincidence.
Oh lee was so great!!
But I have a problem here. .
I can't watch any video or listen mp3. .
You have to fix it. .
Hi rickey! thanks for posting this. By the way, there's something wrong with mp3 performance of Lee. The track does not finish, and it immediately becomes cut. Even the playback is not finished.
I hope you can fix this Rickey. Thanks and more power! :)
Love Lee so much..!!
His voice sounds like Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam vocalist) a lot..!!!
Love his looks, love his voice..
Hope he grows and grows every week!!!
i would love to see him just singing in a t-shirt and jeans again (a la lips), enough of this rock star jacket crap the stylists always whip up. (like wtc was aaron wearing?)
I kept thinking, man I've heard this song before, and then it hit me. Chris Daughtry did this during his audition. I thought he did well though. Liked Chris's rendition a bit more though. :)
Not my favorite performance from Lee, but still love his voice and it's cool he picked a more energetic song and actually tried to perform it. And in another sucky night, this performance remains one of the strongest.
Lee's my favorite guy and I love the tone of his voice. I don't think this was his best performance but I don't think Simon should keep telling him to have a moment... you can't really go into a week saying "I'll have a moment", it just kind of happens.
i like the fact that he tried something different this time. he definitely has one of the best voices among the AI male finalists.
The arrangement was a little weird for me at first, but Lee looked and sounded great!!!!! He actually reminded me a little bit of one of my very favorite Idols EVER, Elliot Yamin, during this performance.
Bravo L-Boogie! Excellent job!!
Loved it. My guy is breakin' out! I have not heard that song in years--and I love how he did it. Worked the stage, too.
I love that song so much. And, for the first time all season, I really enjoyed Lee's performance. This was really good!
Michael Johns and Carly Smithson have done a duet of this song. I know they came back in Season 8 and performed it, anyway. Really liked Lee's version and it appeared he tried to "break out" and be more confident as the judges (Simon) requested.
Ugh, I couldn't agree more. There are very few "moments" during a season, and I could probably count on one hand how many "moments" I've witnessed since starting to watch the show in season 4. What is Simon thinking?! He's usually much smarter than that.
I agree. The judges want him to work the stage more and he did. I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this or maybe I'm biased cuz I like him sooooo much! I love his throaty raspy voice. It wasn't the absolute best song choice for him but it was great.
Yeah, I've been saying he reminds me of Elliott since top 24. They have different styles, but similar 'presence'. I actually thought Lee looked awkward tonight trying to let loose, but loved the singing. If the audience ends up adoring him like they did Elliott, he might make it really far.
ugh, i love lee, but this was not a good song choice. this week's theme was a freebie. he went too far out of his comfort zone, and i think this was the most awkward he's looked all season. "letter" is what you sing on a week where you have no other choice. it's a hollywood week song for chrissakes. thank god he sang well. i can appreciate him wanting to show off some more vocal chops, but he's better off being, as simon would say, "current".
i've been salivating over his top 12 studio recording all week, more about his tone than the song. i'm probably not buying this one. go back to what you know, baby!
lurve the screencap though rickey, thanks.
