Lee Dewyze – Chasing Cars – Video MP3 American Idol Top 24 Performance
Lee Dewyze sings “Chasing Cars” by Snow Patrol on the American Idol Top 24
Ellen DeGeneres: I thought that was a good song choice, then you started screaming. I liked the tone of your voice.
Randy Jackson: It’s a little too pop rock for you.
Simon Cowell: I thought that was the best performance by a mile. This guy is a naturally good singer.
And here he is our Season 9 dark horse. Go Lee! That was amazing. Looking forward to seeing him deep into the Top 12.

Got Something to Add?
he was pretty great, hope he can stop being flat however so he could go far. he wont win though, he should come in 2nd or 3rd start a band and all that, or as what i thought kris and matt should have done if either of them lost last season, make a band with other contestants. he is one of the best for sure though.
Best performance by a mile? LOL! Simon you sounded obviously desperate on this one just because he is your favorite guy and therefore your dark horse. You fought for Lee so stop riding his jock. There were a few bum notes there definitely and they were very recognizable.

Great song, but he was pitchy and not in a good way. Other than the pitchiness I liked the way he sang it but I was po'd that no judge even mentioned his pitch issues.
Here's my favorite cover of Chasing Cars - a hypnotic version by SonicEther (Cody Darr) - uhoh I shouldn't have put the headphones on (supposed to be getting ready for work)
this had it's moments but it was very pitchy as a whole...lee has a good tone and voice but i didn't really care for this version of the song
This guy has absolutely no range, in hollywood and this as soon as he tries to go above speaking voice his vocals completly fall apart.
I'm completely baffled that anyone thinks he did a good job. He had some okay spots, but he hit some of the worst notes of the night. It's not just a matter of being pitchy. He outright missed some notes--they were terribly, terribly flat. Please go back and listen carefully and critically. When the judges say someone is pitchy, they usually mean by small margins. Dewyze was beyond pitchy. But, that's just my trained musician's opinion. And, his voice is not that naturally good. It's very forced and affected in that pop-rocker sort of way. It's quite nasally, too.
definitely one i am rooting for.. andrew and lee for guys and crystal and didi for the girls! also the rock chick with white hair..
I remembered David Cook when he sang. But not as good as David. David is wayyy better. But he is good. I like his voice. I'm looking forward to see him in top 12. :)
he was all over the place on some of the notes...fell flat on some of them. but he was miles better than the others though. sad for the other guys.
Simon's comments shocked me... I thought this performance was verging on dreadful. Very out of tune, too many liberties with the melody (other than the chords, it was basically unrecognizable)... but I will admit he has a good voice. This performance was just subpar on so many levels.
and i really hate the david cook comparisons. david cook was david cook. nobody can be david cook. he was the american idol in his own right, and it wasnt just because of his amazing performances, it was him as a person, as a whole. so they need to stop comparing the idols. lee can stand on his own
agree with simon whole heartedly. guys got a naturally good voice. and randy needs to shut the hell up. first of all snow patrol is a ROCK band. and yes, kings of leon is effing amazing. can we give him a chance to do it? it was only his first performance, damn.
I thought it was okay. He has some pitch issues, but his voice is generic for me...I've heard it all before.
Definitely an interesting arrangement but I'm not feeling him just yet. He was pretty flat at certain points as well.
Although he was "pitchy" in a couple of spots, I think Lee had the best overall performance of the night I think Lee, Andrew Garcia, and Casey James are the 3 best male singers this season. And I agree with Rickey, I think Lee might very well be the "Dark Horse" this season. Time will tell.
LOVED HIM! He's sexy & nice-looking, but I really like his voice too! He's better than what he did tonight, though, & I think we're gonna see that, hopefully next week. I also like Aaron, Joe, Casey, & Crystal. But I like Lee the best!
Didn't think I'd like this guy. I love this song, but wrong song choice for him, as Randy said. Barely recognized the middle of it. Kings of Leon, Springsteen, yeah. (Love any reference to David Cook...my all time fav idol!)
Lee is the best by far! I hope he goes far. I have known him all of my life and there is not a nicer guy out there and he is amazing!!! Vote for Lee!
His was the stand-out performance of the night. Go Lee! oh and I Love Andrew Garcia but he wasn't the best tonight.
I thought Lee was one of the best tonight. He is such a cutie and the girls will love him. He kind of made my heart melt. Plus, he seems to have a lot of talent fromwhat I've seen on him so far.
Meh.... I mean I like the tone of his voice, but just not seeing anything special yet. Maybe that will change if he sticks around long enough.
pretty1000% positive he is my favorite. ive been listening to his music for a while on itunes and he is rock solid. LOVE YOU LEE! his voice is so new and noticable. i like it. and hes a cutie :)
Love this guy. He is Hootie 2. But, he has to watch when he drops 2 notes--he goes flat. But--I really do like Lee--lots.
Awful. Is everyone on drugs? Have you heard the original? Lee's voice is grating, nasly, and he was flat throughout. It was really terrible. I have no idea why ANYONE liked that.
It's just OK but I got to see the video of the performance when I get home. I love the original version of this song. I think he will move forward to next week.
Does anybody notice that the judges choose singers who are cookie cutter clones from previous seasons? David Cook = Kris Allen = this Dweeze guy. But I will say this, he's from Chicago, so I'm supporting anybody from Chicago.
He at least he comes off as a performer. However his voice sounded like something being suffocated, his pitch wasn't right for me and it that was barely mentioned by the judges.
Simon is pimping him. *eye roll* Not buying it.
Not so good. I could hardly recognize the song and his voice managed to be both husky and nasal at the same time. Didn't like it.
liked him alot i see him going threw to the top 4 over all after tonight. idk why they keep saying this is a girls year , because only really like 2-3 of the girls are really that good.
He' s got a nice husky voice and he did a nice arrangement with the song. I agree with Simon, he's the best we've got so far. For me, Lee, Aaron and Joe were the only ones who did a decent job. Todrick and Jermaine disappointed me a little bit.
Dang--I did it again. sorry..

Yes--it's been posted--when Lee drops 2+ notes he does go flat. He has to work that out. The nasally thing--it worked for Hootie. That, for me, was Hootie's appeal and now Lee's--jmho
I really do think if he gets that pitch problem solved when he slides down--he's got a good shot at this.
