‘Law & Order: SVU’ promotes Raul Esparza to series regular as ADA
For the first time in its nearly fourteen-year history, Law & Order: SVU will have a male Assistant District Attorney as a main cast member.
Deadilne is reporting that Raul Esparza, who began recurring this past season as the new ADA, Rafael Barba, will be joining the main cast for Season 15. Barba joins series veteran Mariska Hargitay, who renewed her contract in May, as the confirmed returns for the new season. The new season will premiere on September 25th, and the cast will start shooting next week.
Producer Warren Leight said “Making him a series regular is a small way of acknowledging his enormous contribution to our show.” Hm. He acts like Barba was Casey Novak or something. I’m really miffed as I hoped Novak (Diane Neal), Alex Cabot (Stephanie March), or heck even Kim Greylek (Michaela McManus) would come back as a regular ADA for this season. I wish the Paula Patton deal as ADA while back would have worked out. Oh well, I’m just glad SVU, arguably one of the biggest shows of our generation, is still around.
