Pretty poor by Lauren on second listen... she had the attitude people wanted to see, but her singing went down by a lot compared to her usual singing level. Still though on a regular basis, she's the best singer left on the show all around, as she can do a wide variety of things extremely well. James is always screechy and/or off key, Haley has improved vastly and have the best performance of the season with "House of the Rising Sun", but all season taken into account, Lauren has been far more consistent, and Scotty is better at country than Lauren, but that's it.
Lauren not winning wouldn't surprise me. This is the same show where Kris Allen, the honest cool singer beat one of the best singers AND most fearless performer on the Idol stage... and where Lee Dewyze won, period. Plus this season, the best singer was already eliminated (Pia) and the best performer/musician was already eliminated (Casey) so even if Lauren does win, she wasn't the best all season, she's just the best of what's left.
Not to mention, she's only 16... she'll be in a whole other league by the time she's in her 20's.
None of these contestants need to be voted off the show. They are all worthy of the title of American Idol 2011, and I am so unimpressed with all of you self righteous, higher critics tearing down this sixteen year old girl who has more talent than any of you will ever possess. She has a "God given" gift. That is why she is where she is, and we are where we are!
Liked it until the break, then hated it. Completely undermined everything before it. Poor choices again Lauren.
I couldn't believe her in this song after seeing her in the package telling Jimmy and Gaga "But I'm not evil......" Why in the world did she pick that song if she didn't want to convey the message that is in 75% of the song?? It was weird. While I think Lauren is a great singer, she's just too immature for this competition, in my opinion.
Totally out of her element. Not believable at all. If she was so worried about 'being evil' as she kept saying, why the heck did she pick that song? Felt a bit karaoke to me.
Were they trying to make her look old and fat with that outfit? The song was so wrong for her. She deserves better than that.
She did about as good as she could with it... hopefully she sticks around for another week.
I like her attitude, but she is so young !!!!
The best version of this song is here :
they dressed her up old, but she sang it young . It was OK. Glad the judges overlooked all the flaws in that performance
I think Lauren started good with this song. However, when she's almost at the end, her vocals struggled a bit. Still, this was a decent performance. :)
The comparisons will be there, but out of Idol Trouble performances, this one is the best http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3lSYGL47kI&playnext=1&list=PL7ADF99143EDD5477
The only other contestant I can remember singing this song is Carrie Underwood and I believe she did it much better. Don't believe this was the right song for Lauren at all.
Does Lauren ever pick songs she can actually connect with or relate to? This song is the anti-Lauren. She's sixteen years old, so why would she pick a song about being the evil side of a relationship (simple song meaning)?
Please, producers, stop pushing her onto us. If she wins and doesn't live up to the legacy of Kelly and Carrie, which is inevitable because she is so young and unconfident, it doesn't bode well for the show. The producers need to just let these people sing and not give the judges notes and not give clearly favorable edits to some contestants over others. Ever since Steven Tyler called her "The One," Lauren getting past more talented contestants (read: Pia, Casey) was inevitable.
I love Lauren. She may not have the greatest technical singing skills but her voice is great and she's such a good role model. She is just a normal girl with insecurities which I love. She has a beautiful voice and she is someone that would definitely make it.
lauren is ok she can sing but she has to gain that extra something to be really great... she sang this song ok,, but i didnt think her vocals were strong enough for it... Elliot Yamin sang this song during his season and was amazing...
No way, no comparison to Carrie's. I like Lauren, but she had no growl and never came close to convincing anyone that she understood this song. Lauren's first song was much much better.
No, she doesn't. She has no musical identity or sensibility whatsoever. She's gifted with good pitch, but she's not an artist (if that makes sense). I haven't seen her make a decision for herself once this season. Part of it is maturity, but Scotty is the same age, and as boring as I find him, he does take control of his performances.
She would do great on a Disney show where somebody will write the songs, dress her up, and choreograph the dance moves. She might even be able to make a half decent album, although she probably won't have any say in the creative process. Which is why I can't bring myself to like her. A pleasant voice isn't enough.
I liked it until the break, then hated it. Completely undermined everything before it. Lazy choices again Lauren.
Yup.Elliott Yamin gave his all. Lauren continues to give about 65%. She also continues cutting short at the end to giggle a little ... instead of holding the note (and the audience) till the end.
She has a long way to go to be the kind of performer she CAN become ... eventually.
