I agree - she's always better than Pia. The problem is, Pia puts it all out there, and Lauren always holds back. I wish Simon were around to pull the performance out of her. She HAS it, she's just not using it.
I think Lauren doesn't really really know what she's capable of, which is too bad. I haven't changed my mind on her. She's still the one with the best potential this season. What she needs is her Jordin Sparks breakout moment. Will it ever happen?
I love Lauren, but that song has been sung so many times...bleh. She didn't really do anything new with it. I would rather have heard something else from her.
Thought Lauren did an outstanding job on this song, loved her interpretation. She's only 16, so her voice is still developing...but you can tell, she is going to be beyond amazing when that happens.
I pretty much agree with everybody above. It's unconvincing and more than a little disturbing to have a 16 year old trying to play the sexpot. They have her made-up like a used up pageant queen. And Ryan calling her hot was just... creepy as all hell.
Where's Simon and the voice of sanity?!
Not a right song choice for her. Aretha ripped it. So for Lauren, it always felt a bit underwhelming because of it.
She's overrated, if you ask me. Plus, I can hear Simon in my head berating her for song choice. Natural Woman for a 16 year old, really?
Yeah, I have to agree this was not a shining moment for Lauren tonight. She needs to pick songs that reflect what she knows and can related to from her limited experience, as a 16 year old. This song is not right for her.

I have to agree. I actually thought the performance was lackluster and a bit ackward. She has a good voice, but she didn't nail it imo.
"This song will always fall flat for any contestant on AI,given it was a stand out moment for Kelly Clarkson on AI Season 1. "
That was nine years ago, so no, I don't think that's influencing a lot of people anymore. I didn't start watching Idol until Season 2. My love for Kelly C. developed AFTER the show, when a co-worker dragged me to see her and Clay Aiken on tour.
Anyway, I didn't think this was Lauren's best moment on the show so far, but that's only because she's been so great before. This was still outstanding and I'll be voting for her later tonight.
I almost fell asleep watching her... sorry girl, u have a long way to go to be the next Kelly Clarkson!
I agree with Buck on this one. I like Lauren, there is no doubting that she has an abundance of potential. Unfortunately, she is continuously picking the wrong songs. This song will always fall flat for any contestant on AI,given it was a stand out moment for Kelly Clarkson on AI Season 1. I don't know who is making these decisions for the contestants, but Jimmy Iovine is quite possibly the worst thing to happen to this season. Some of the arrangements have been extremely poor, despite 'Hey Ho'..I mean J-Lo continuously telling us that the said producer (Tim Allen,Rodney Jerkins etc) did an amazing job and that she has previously worked with him and considers him a really good friend. Yawn!!!
While Lauren is one of the best singers on the show, I found that a little bland and lacking emotion. It's hard to buy a 16 year-old singing "you make me feel like a natural woman", as well. But, she'll still be in the competition come Friday morning.
Ah, the Carrie fans are reverting to their old tactics once again -- attack any other woman that dares to sing country.
Shameful. If you really believed in Carrie, you wouldn't act this way.
