Lana Del Rey’s ‘Born to Die’ Debuts at No. 1 on UK Album Charts
Lana Del Rey continues to make a huge splash onto the music scene. With numerous public appearances and magazine covers, Del Rey’s debut album Born to Die has debuted atop the UK album charts. With 117,000 units moved, she’s sold more than the other top five members combined. Wow.
She can only continue to go up from here.
From Billboard.biz:
The meteoric worldwide success of Lana Del Rey’s debut album “Born To Die” (Polydor/Universal) extended to the U.K. on Sunday (Feb. 5), when it debuted at No. 1 with sales of 117,000, more than the rest of the top five combined. French artist-DJ David Guetta celebrated his two Grammy and one BRIT Award nominations by climbing 2-1 on the singles chart with “Titanium” (Positiva/Virgin/EMI), featuring Sia.
It was announced last Wednesday (Feb. 1) that “Born To Die” had hit No. 1 on the iTunes album chart in 15 countries. In the U.K., Del Rey’s 117,000 opening sales included 50,000 digitally, and she’s in the singles top 40 with two tracks from the album: the title track climbed 14-9 yesterday and her debut hit “Video Games,” which debuted at No. 9 in October, jumped back 20-17, with total sales now standing at nearly 292,000 units, according to the Official Charts Company.
