Kelsey Grammer is embracing his inner Sideshow Bob.
Following his Golden Globe-winning role as a sinister politician in Starz’s acclaimed (yet canceled) drama Boss, Grammer has signed on to play the villain in Michael Bay’s next Transformers movie, which co-stars Academy Award nominees Mark Wahlberg and Stanley Tucci, and 18-year-old Nicola Peltz as the female lead.
Grammer will play Harold Attinger, a counterintelligence operative. The actor is no stranger to summer blockbusters, having portrayed Hank “Beast” McCoy in the oft-maligned X-Men: The Last Stand.
The film begins production in July, from a script by Ehren Kruger. Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Ian Bryce, Tom DeSanto and Don Murphy will produce with Bay returning to the director’s chair.
