Katelyn Epperly – The Scientist – Video MP3 American Idol Top 20 Performance
Katelyn Epperly sings “The Scientist” by Coldplay on the American Idol Top 20
Coldplay! This was so slow.
Ellen DeGeneres: I fell kinda asleep. It was so slow. Way too slow.
Kara DioGuardi: I kinda love you.
Randy Jackson: It was great until the last couple notes. I liked it.
Simon Cowell: I thought it was a smart choice of song. You become quite corny when you perform. It was a million times better than last week.

Got Something to Add?
shes one of the best! Siobhan, Crystal, and Katelyn are my top 3 girls. Im trying to like Didi but I think its not going to work out.
is it too slow?i think it cant be speed up.she sang great and for sure top 2 performance of the night.
She got my attention, last week I didn't even care to listen to her peformance. But this week, she is great. Great song choice and great voice..
Clearly you are totally tone deaf. She was SO boring, and the tempo made me sleep. She murdered that song (in a very bad way)
I love this version. The judges are idiots for not picking this as performance of the night. It was "HER" moment! Randy, STFU and die! Ellen, deaf as a bat! Btw, Natasha Beddingfield is a lame overrated hag!
Hauntingly beautiful. I thought she was superb. This gal did not get the props she deserved. Clearly one of the top performances last night.
She does an amazing sounding performance and gets somewhat SLAMMED and LEE on Tuesday sounded AWFUL and gets called a FRONT RUNNER!? Tell me why!?
I've been listening to a number of last night's performances over and over, and this is the only one that gets better each time I hear it. Her voice is just beautiful, and she sings beautifully (those aren't the same things).
She can't blow a week, though, the judges have their favorites, clearly. She needs to stick with numbers that showcase her strength--the quality of her voice. If she did some kind of dance track or something, where the quality of her voice doesn't come through, she could find herself going home. Crystal Bowersox and Lilly Scott have a lot of experience, they are polished performers. Siobhan Magnus has that powerful voice. Katelyn needs to hit her sweet spot, and keep hitting it, because the women are tough this year.
On the guy's side, there is Lee DeWyze (who actually has two albums available on amazon) with his Danny Gokey/Eric Clapton voice, and then there's everybody else. So if Katelyn wants to make the final four, she needs to build a fan base, and knock off Siobhan, Lilly, or Crystal. The girls will be splitting the girl's vote, shoeing Lee into the final 4, leaving 3 spots for the ladies.
Ellen seriously has no idea what she's talking about. Katelyn's performance is EPIC. After Kradam last year, I thought this season's crop of talents were completely worthless - until Katelyn came on tonight!
I thought Katelyn's performance was riveting from beginning to end. It's the judges that need to be criticized here, not the performer. Sometimes, their comments make absolutely no sense and make me wonder how much they really appreciate music. Katelyn, both you and your performance were wonderful tonight.
I like this young lady. She has a very nice quality to her voice. She needs to keep her hair down and wear as less makeup as possible. She is a natural beauty.
I thinkl she sounded great both weeks. I had not planned to like her because I had other early favorites like Crystal and Lilly but I think she is better than Lilly. Yeah , Lilliy is defferent and unique but Katelyn actually has the better voice of the two girls . Still prefer my girl Crystal and I like Siobhan too but Katelyn is in the top 3 0r 4 .
lol Simon is actually right. She looks like a total retard when she sings. Besides she is totally lying when she says she haven´t heard Natasha´s version before!, they are pretty much the same version.
I agree with most here who said the judges did not give this performance enough credit! She sang it soo dang well, I was really impressed. Yeah it was slow, but it was a nice-slow to me. Screw the judges, I sometimes mute them.
this was actually very good. she should've gotten better remarks from the judges. i'm looking forward to more.
Katelyn is one of the only girls that has true, raw talent on this season. She can sing heartfelt pieces but can also belt it out if she wants to. My favorite by far.
I was really impressed by Katelyn tonight. To be that composed and confident this early in the game says a lot about her ability. She played it smart and chose a song that suited her vocals well. I felt she also connected with the song and the audience.
That was by far my favorite performance of the night. She is so self-possessed and consistent. And, no one on Idol ever does that sort of stripped down, plaintive ballad without over-singing. At least, they don't do it that well.
I have to take offense to Randy's claims of her last notes being "pitchy." Listening back proves that simply is not true.
A beautiful performance.
I am now a fan of this blondie! Siobhan and Crystal were my favorites. Now add Katelyn to the list. She stole my soul!
Surprised me with what a masterclass this was. The most goosebump raising performance of the night. Perfect tempo... what's the point in rushing the Scientist? It wouldn't work sped up.
This is one of my favorite renditions of the song I have heard. It was captivating and enthralling. I'm not sure why the judges hated it as much as they did.
Amazing voice, tempo was taken down to much. She should have watched Natasha Bedingfield's version on Youtube, the tempo would have suited her better. It would have been an Idol moment.
Well, yes, she is a bit gorgeous and that could be half the battle of being a diva, eh? But she sang good. The SONG is boring but somebody wrote it and sombody has sang it in the past and put it on the market. So this means the singer isn't boring...it may have been a bad song choice. But this Carrie Underwood look-alike will be around for a while. Song was slow and a bit boring but listen to the quality of her voice, too.
I am a huge Coldplay fan, and the Scientist is one of my favorites. I think she did a wonderful job with it, just slowed it down a bit too much. And yes, I know it's a singing competition, but the piano part sounded pretty far off from the original.
I thought it was a lovely performance. Yeah a bit cheesy with some of the expressions she was making, but I enjoyed the slower tempo for once. It suited what she was doing and she sang it well.
i thought they threw her under the bus a little bit. i also agreed the judges comments were way off tonight. she was way better than they gave her credit for.
she's pretty but her voice is amazing. it was the only thing kara said tonight that made any sense. and yeah it was slow, but it was heartfelt, she connected with the song. top 3 performances of the night behind crystal and siobhan. i thought she got ripped off last week too, it was a brilliant vocal performance. the judging was really weird tonight.
You were blinded by her beauty, because she's bor-ing! Kind of reminded me of Kat McPhee, who I also consider boring.
Other than with Crystal, I thought the judges were on the whole pretty off with their comments tonight. Katelyn had me holding my breath the whole time -- I could really tell she connected with the song and it made her performance that much more powerful for me. I hope she sticks around for longer!
I actually liked this. I love this song, and though the arrangement was great. Whoever said she was canon fodder a few weeks ago, I don't think so now.
Not the best, but she was definitely good!
The song suited her voice very well. It was very soulful and she really had a connection with the audience. I hope she performs with the piano again next week. I really loved her performance. So far, this is the performance worth downloading. I hope Siobhan does not disappoint me too. :)
I thought she was by far the best of the night vocally. I disagree with her song choice--slow songs like this should be saved until at LEAST the top 10. Katelyn needs to do high energy, showstopping numbers right now. And I think she has it in her.
