The fourth season of FX’s critical success, Justified, will premiere on Tuesday, January 8 at 10:00 PM, while Archer, the network’s underrated animated comedy gem, will premiere on Thursday, January 17 at 10:00 PM. Archer‘s return will be preceded by new episodes of Charlie Sheen’s moderately-successful Anger Management, airing at 9:30. The Thursday night comedy bloc will round out with the premiere of Legit, a new series starring Australian comic Jim Jefferies as a fictional version of himself, co-starring Dan Bakkedahl and DJ Qualls (who gets a lifetime pass from me for being associated with Hustle & Flow) as his roommates. The series premiere will air at 10:30.
Also on tap to return are Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell. The comedy series, which was recently-renewed alongside BrandX with Russell Brand, will air new episodes beginning January 17 at 11:00 PM, as FX recently renewed both that show and BrandX with Russell Brand. If nothing else, I can appreciate that Brand is adopting a bit of a lower profile, as he’s a pretty divisive presence onscreen and off. As for W. Kamau Bell, the man is talented, and anyone willing to give Sara Benincasa TV time is alright with me.
Lastly, The Americans, a spy drama starring Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys as KGB agents undercover in Reagan-era America, will also see a January premiere, though no date has yet been finalized. Though Felicity did absolutely nothing for me, Keri Russell is a favorite of mine from countless bored Sunday afternoons watching Lifetime movies in which she usually played some form of babysitter or other, and was usually getting seduced by a fellow WB network-mate. Because nothing oozes sex like getting rotary dialed by the dad from 7th Heaven.
