Julianne Hough is returning to the show that made her a star.
Hough, a former pro on the hit ABC reality competition, will return to Dancing With the Stars as a guest judge. Hough will be filling in for judge Len Goodman on the Monday, Oct. 7 episode. Goodman will be taking a brief sabbatical in order to judge the show’s British counterpart, Strictly Come Dancing.

Although she has mostly been off doing movies over the past few years, Hough first made a name for herself in seasons 4 through 8 of “Dancing with the Stars.” She won two of her five seasons of the program, with Apolo Anton Ohno in Season 4 and Helio Castroneves in Season 5. Since then, the dancer-turned actress has appeared in “Save Haven,” “Rock of Ages,” “Footloose” and “Burlesque.” Hough’s next role will be in “Paradise,” to be directed by Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody.
The professional dancers on “Dancing with the Stars” seemed excited at the announcement of one of their former colleagues returning as a judge. After all, Julianne Hough has been there before. Her brother, pro-dancer Derek Hough, expected some fun with his sister handing out the scores. “She’s gonna kill me. She’s gonna absolutely kill me,” Hough joked after the week 2 “DWTS” performances. “She’s gonna be all like, ‘Remember that time when we were kids when you pulled the head of my Barbie? Guess what? 4! That’s what you get!’”
When pressed for a serious answer, however, Derek had nothing but praise for his sister’s upcoming judging debut. “She’ll be an amazing judge,” he said. “She’s been on the show before and was amazing on the show. And she’s got a really good mind and a phenomenal eye, and she’s gonna judge it fairly.”
Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays at 8:00 PM on ABC.
