Jon Stewart is Leaving ‘The Daily Show’ (VIDEO)

After 16 years, Jon Stewart is stepping down as the much-loved host of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show.

With the departure of Stephen Colbert (the character) and in turn The Colbert Report at the end of 2014, this is truly the end of an era.

Stewart announced the news during today’s taping (Feb. 10) which was later confirmed by Comedy Central.

“For the better part of the last two decades, I have had the incredible honor and privilege of working with Jon Stewart. His comedic brilliance is second to none,” said Comedy Central’s Michele Ganeless.

“Jon has been at the heart of Comedy Central, championing and nurturing the best talent in the industry, in front of and behind the camera. Through his unique voice and vision, The Daily Show has become a cultural touchstone for millions of fans and an unparalleled platform for political comedy that will endure for years to come.”

Stewart will end his reign toward the end of 2015.
