Jermaine Jones Disqualified From American Idol For Hiding Violent Past
Jermaine Jones has been disqualified from American Idol for hiding his criminal past from the producers.
He was charged with 2 crimes in 2011 with one involving violence. He gave a fake name when he was arrested. He currently has outstanding warrants.
He was confronted by the producers on camera today, and will no longer be part of the show.
Jermaine tweeted: “Awww I will no longer b on the show” (but he has since deleted it, after we reported on his disqualification — there’s a screencap of course).
Let the conspiracy theories begin!
Of course Nigel Lythgoe knew about Jermaine’s criminal past — that’s why they brought him back for the Top 25! He was perfect! Nigel is so talented. Anything for ratings. This is the American Idol we know and love! Long live American Idol! Scandal forever!

Got Something to Add?
Am I the only one that's a fan of BOTH American Idol and The Voice...oh hell I'll throw in X-Factor in there too!! I love seeing undiscovered talent get their chance especially with all the garbage that's out on the radio these days...I welcome with open arms more singing competition shows. I understand the competition between different networks, but fans of each show need to calm the eff down. All these shows have the same goal.
why can't we all just get along!!, she said naively. haha
Jeremy should try The Voice. They are less strict about rules there, I mean I have two words for you...Jamar Rogers.
loves a good scandal.........no worries Jermaine always got The Voice to fall back on....they love taking talent show rejects.
I thought Ryan said after Corey Clark's disqualification they were going to do a background check on all contestants.
Now I'm even further convinced this was all one big Publicity Stunt, and they were just biding their time for a good week to do it. They went through all that trouble to bring him back as the "wild card" and didn't bother to check his record? Somehow, I find that hard to believe. As Rickey said, Nigel is desperate. LOL
I could care less if he has a criminal past. But uhm, someone who would give a fake name and then go on TV where EVERY COP IN THE COUNTRY can see your face... well, that's just not that smart. :p
Good. His attitude sucked big time when the judge's were giving him criticism. Bring back sweet Jeremy!!! He deserves another chance!!!
TMZ is reporting a different story, stating he lied about his father not being in his life but that was far from the truth and that producers did not like that lie as he was playing for sympathy!
I am glad it is him. I never liked him and was annoyed when they brought him back, and with his criminal past what idiot goes on national tv...
I wish they'd have another wildcard and bring back those who didn't make it into the top 25. BRING BACK CANDICE FREAKING GLOVER! #BDND
LMAO, so much for the "gentle giant"! Not so gentle after all. Oops. Now it all makes sense, why they brought him back when he clearly doesn't belong there: controversy = ratings gold.
Wow Jermaine wow...really?? I hope the producers don't bring back Jeremy. I love the kid, but he does not need to be eliminated 3 times..it'd be just cruel. I say they go on with eliminations and then the following week after "the save" send 1 person home instead of 2.
But seriously though, I wanna know what Amber Rose said about Jermaine. Anyone know or have a screenshot?
You have a point, there is room for more than 1 singing competition. Let the networks duke it out and snipe at each other - they're the only ones who stand to suffer if one is more popular than another. As long as viewership doesn't go down so far that one of the shows is canceled (not likely), we don't need to worry about it.
@JAMANDA That's a low blow. As far as we know, Jamar Rogers didn't harm anyone but himself with the mistakes that he made with drugs. And having HIV is not a crime. While Jermaine, on the other hand, apparently committed VIOLENT crimes - there's a huge difference. And as for your assertion that Idol is more strict about rules, HA! That's a laugh. We're talking about a show that randomly decides to screw with the rules every chance they get - top 24 became top 25 on a whim from the judges to bring back Jermaine, etc. Idol has made it clear this season that there are NO binding rules. They do whatever the hell they want to get the highest possible ratings.
@JAMANDA or maybe just too lazy to find new good talent...they seem to be digging up alot of has beens from other reality shows....the Voice is not about the contestants anyways......its all about the latest releases from its 4 stars...no one cares who wins.
@djfabian he can try it there but i dont think his voice is worth the button...
@AnnaKaplowitz I'm pretty sure they do a background check at the very beginning of the process, after getting through the auditions. So either the producers already knew about this and just wanted to milk the drama, or maybe they didn't know because Jermaine gave police a false name when he was arrested.
@ToyDroid I thought so too. O_o Who woulda thunk it? Apparently they confronted him on camera about it. Looking forward to tomorrow. lol
@JosephKapsch Too bad they can't milk it because everyone knows he's been kicked off now. He spoiled on his Twitter! LOL!
@djfabian @JAMANDA @Mikhail XO The Voice (and The X Factor) bashing by American Idol fans is really what's making the ratings decline so much sweeter. This post was about Jermaine, and yet you're bashing The Voice? I'm very close to moderating you fabian. Don't think that I don't read all the comments your written on here.
For the videos that I embed? FOX in the past have sent me threatening e-mails from their legal department. (While at the same time I would get thankful e-mails from their publicity!!!) NBC however would do this: ask me nicely to remove them and exchange with their own videos.
I think the general atmosphere for The Voice is positive, while Idol has historically (and until now with you) very combative. I think it's time for a change. I think Idol fans can be positive too -- but we've been conditioned by Nigel to be like this for years, so I understand that it is going to be difficult. With the ratings falling to their levels now, I think a lot of people will be forced to change perspectives a little.
I still disapprove of the attack The Voice/The X Factor as American Idol defense that you are employing.
This blog is full of Haley Reinhart fans as you know by now -- not by my design, it just happened.
@Rickey @JAMANDA @Mikhail XO go for it Rickey..Im really not overly concerned..I found the blog has become way too biased lately anyways. Idol was number 1 and 2 respectively last week btw. Network television viewing is in a downward spiral as well .....its not just an idol thing... I cant help it if some people cant handle my critques .keep in mind all last season I rooted for Scotty while the majority of your readers didnt think he had a chance...and who won?... I will stick with other sites where all the buzz is still idol or tune into the morning talk shows where they still talk all about Idol and there is rarely a mention of the other show. I look forward to Monday when dancing with the Stars finally gives viewers something else to watch on Mondays :) I hope you will be covering it :)
@realphill well she can have all the time she needs outside the show.. for now the show is better without her.
@Mikhail XO brielle had a lot of potencial! she just needed time to develop it!
