Jennifer Esposito Will Replace Alyssa Milano on ‘Mistresses’

It’s goodbye Alyssa Milano, hello Jennifer Esposito on ABC’s Mistresses!

Esposito is joining the summer drama for Season 3. She will play Calista Raines, the creative director of a luxury fashion brand who is described as “uber-fabulous” and “larger-than-life”. However, Raines is apparently pretty lonely underneath it all, hiding a “darker, more devious nature.”

Esposito is stepping up to the plate in lieu of Milano’s decision, back in October, to leave the hit summer series after two seasons.

“After two wonderful seasons in Los Angeles, the studio has decided to shoot season three of Mistresses in Vancouver, Canada for financial reasons,” Milano’s statement at the time read. “It’s with a heavy heart that I have decided that I can’t relocate.”

Milano explained her decision by citing the demands of motherhood:

“I have two babies under 4. Being a mother and wife comes first and I just cannot uproot my children and separate the family by moving away,” Milano added. “I will miss this job desperately and wish everyone the absolute best.”

Here’s hoping Esposito is up to the task of filling Milano’s shoes. She’s a talented actress, so I’m not too worried about her ability to carry the role. But what do you think? Is this the right call? Can Milano even be replaced? Sound off in the comments!
