Jennifer Ehle, the actress seen in a supporting role in last year’s Best Picture nominee Zero Dark Thirty, has been cast in the upcoming big screen adaptation of E.L. James’ 50 Shades of Grey.
Ehle, who is in final negotiations for the part, will play the role of Carla, the mother of protagonist Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson).
Though the film doesn’t release until late next summer, Ehle is not hurting for work. Her upcoming releases include the upcoming RoboCop remake opposite The Killing‘s Joel Kinnaman and Oscar nominee Gary Oldman, Black and White with Kevin Costner, and A Little Chaos with Kate Winslet, Stanley Tucci, and director/star Alan Rickman.
Fifty Shades of Grey will hit theaters on August 1, 2014.
