Jeff Gutt – The X Factor USA 2013 – Hallelujah – Video MP3

Jeff Gutt sang “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen on The X Factor USA 2013 Top 4 Live Show 7.

This was America’s choice for Jeff, and I’m kind of miffed that they went with this over “Creep” by Radiohead and “Wonderwall” by Oasis. I’m just beyond over this song being performed on singing competitions, as much as I still adore it even now. It needs to be retired right alongside “Alone” by Heart, “Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now)” by Phil Collins, “I Believe I Can Fly” by R. Kelly, and at least half of Elton John’s catalogue.

But with all that having been said, this was one of Jeff’s best vocals. I’d be shocked if he didn’t make the finale.

    Got Something to Add?

Maybe they are saving Wonderwall for his final competition. I don't think Creep will win this competition.  He needs a song with the same knock em dead WOW factor that Hallelujah and Demon have had, with the technical perfection that Feeling Good had.   I mean he has to pull something extraordinary out of his hat to beat the pop duet Alex and Sierra. The US seems to love them, despite duet pairs not being anything that lasts on Top 40--most are fly by night collaborations between already established single artists.  I mean when was the last--the Carpenters?  Sonny and Cher? While A&S have had the top Overall single on iTunes and a couple within the Top Ten in Pop, in ROCK singles--Jeff has KEPT 6 singles in the Top Ten AND has had a couple in  Top Ten in over all. Its time for Rock to make a comeback, and its time to knock a few of these Disney aged children back to the school room!

I agree with you Nick, this song is totally overdone. But, it was a great performance from him.. Heh might actually be his best for me.. shocking.. i know
