Jason Aldean Criticizes Zac Brown's Comments On Country Music

Jason Aldean has criticized Zac Brown’s comments on country music, via Instagram.

If you haven’t been following this, Zac Brown of Zac Brown Band recently made a ton of comments in an interview with 93.7 JRfm. The link to some of these is here, in addition to the comments of Gary Allan and Kacey Musgraves, who have added to the debate.

Jason Aldean wasn’t happy with Zac Brown saying that Luke Bryan‘s ‘That’s My Kind of Night’ was the worst country song ever. He took to Instagram, saying, “I hear some other artist [is] bashing my boy Luke Bryan['s] new song, sayin’ its the worst song they have ever heard… To those people runnin’ their mouths, trust me when I tell [you] that nobody gives a sh** what [you] think. Its a big ol’ hit, so apparently the fans love it which is what matters. Keep doin’ [your] thing LB!”

Wow. Do you agree with Jason? Personally, I’m with Zac, although I’m not sure it’s the worst country song ever. But this comment from Jason is the first from an artist to come out in defense of what is currently going on in country so that may lead to more on that side of things. Equally more artists will likely come out of the woodwork to back up Zac and the others. This is turning a bit crazy, but I love it.

I think this hybrid country style with the infusion of pop/hip hop should have its own category instead of clogging up the 'country' charts with non-country music.

Zac is just bitter that he can't compete on the chart when put in the same category as LB, Carrie Underwood, Talor Swift, etc... Music is evolving, and that is driven by the listeners who pay their hard earned money to follow the artists. So, musicians like Zac should just stop whining about his concern with the future of country music. ZBB's music is very much pop and its content is every bit as cliche and noninnovative as standard country artists. It talks about cheesy romance, the south, eating fried chicken, etc.... Please, it's like a pot talking to the kettle.

I am still a ZBB fan and will buy their next album, but it infuriates me when Zac believes that the "people deserve better than this [LB, Taylor Swift, etc...]", that is just plain arrogance. Really, what does he know about what listeners deserve?

Worst ever is saying a lot, but it's crap!  Everyone knows that how much airtime a song gets has NOTHING to do with what the fans want. Clear Channel, etc decides what songs they are going to play. So it being "a hit" does not mean the fans are requesting it! It just means radio execs like it. And I'd expect someone who puts out the rap songs that Jason Aldean does to come out and defend Luke Bryan. He wouldn't know country music if it hit him on the head!  It's not like Zac Brown or Kacey Musgraves are saying it from sour grapes or anything- they get tons or radio play too!

I love Jason Aldean and I think he's right... Just because I enjoy something and you don't doesn't make either one of us better than the other... People need to get their snotty nose out of the air and worry about themselves.

@Katenigmato be fair, Kacey is struggling in the radio department, she's just a critic's darling.

But otherwise I 100% agree with your comment! Very well put. :)

@planmymistake @Katenigma I guess I listen to Sirius too much- I hear Kacey all the time! I don't personally care for Gary Allan's music, so I think he gets too much airplay. LOL

Truthfully, Zac Brown would have been better off to not say anything at all. The Toby Keith/Dixie Chicks feud didn't benefit anyone other than the tabloids (Come to think of it, he had Court Yard hounds opening for him some this summer, so maybe they are a bad influence LOL) . But that doesn't make what he said untrue!

@Katenigma @planmymistake he was asked what he thought about the song in an interview, and I 100% respect him for being brave enough to be brutally honest!
