James Durbin – While My Guitar Gently Weeps – American Idol Top 9 – Video MP3
James Durbin sings While My Guitar Gently Weeps on American Idol Top 9
Rickey: James slows it down! OMG he really reminds me of Adam Lambert. Amazing! That note!
Steven Tyler: It’s good that you weeped (like your guitar).
Jennifer Lopez: It’s nice to see that other side of you.
Randy Jackson: I love seeing the emotional side of James.

First purchase on iTunes this year. I will admit to being a glambert (although not a rabid one) so am I a Jambert now, lol?
So many great contestants this year, but James really shines each and every week!
This performance was okay... the high note at the end had a rough start... and he was pitchy in areas... I would not compare it to Adam Lambert's slowed down performances, which were absolutely vocally pristine beyond compare.
is everyone deaf??? I have nothing against this kid, i think there are others worse than him. But he ruined one of the most beautiful songs, by one of the gratest artist i´ve ever seen ( my favourite Beatle, by the way) and everyone is saying he did a great job. I don´t get it!!
His voice is very thin and weak when he doesn't get to scream. He was completely powerless last night. Perfect definition of the performance is plain mediocre.
Still at least i remember him. Yawn at the others. I'm bored with all of them. Looking for seaon 11, hopefully it will be better. Or X-factor 2011!
He's nothing like Lambert. Totally different tone, totally different stage presence. The ONLY thing they could be compared with each other for is that they both are/were on AI.
why do i have this feeling that everytime i see james durbin, he always reminds me of adam lambert... geez.... does he lack originality or something? but he's good! it's just that.... oh well, he's good anyway (just like adam lambert).. lol
@Natalie how is James trying to be like Adam every week? Do you mean how he dresses? Please, I don't recall Adam setting any fashion trends that haven't been used before. Or do you mean the performances? I haven't heard Adam sing any of the songs James does. In fact, James always had the wail even before Adam took the stage on idol lol. Hmmm.... Remember, honey Adam isn't a rocker. He is post idol glam pop. So please stop with the jealousy. James is not competing with Adam on the show. There is room for him in the industry. You sound ridiculous and a little off your rocker.
AWESOME song, as usual by my fave JAMES baby!! His vocals are always spot on, and I loved seeing the emotion tonight.
it was okay thats all who ever said hes better than adam is crazy adam would eat him for breakfast and he needs to stop copying adam every week he would be good if he came up with his own stuff
You said it, Glim. I literally made an audible groan when Lambert came on, then I had to mute the TV or leave the room so I couldn't see or hear him. Him and that screaming and sticking that God awful tongue out and opening his nasty mouth so wide we could see his tonsils. BLECH a million times over. James, while not the most attractive dude in the world (better looking than Adam, except for the one pic I saw of Adam in the pink dress, he looked actually good in that), he is 1,000x less annoying than Lambert and 1,000x better of a singer. It's just the butthurt glamberts who can't EVER get over the fact that people, many people, sing better than their prancing, screaming, glittery glam god.
Also, in regards to the "copying" Adam, there are Youtube videos out there of James from years ago, singing exactly the same way he does now, so the "copying" Lambert is a bunch of BS. Perhaps Adam saw James on Youtube and said "You know, I think I want to be like him", and HE'S the one copying James. James is more Rock than Lambert will ever be.
James is way better than Adam simply because I don't cringe when I listen to him sing the way Adam makes me do!
KEEPING IT REAL AND ROCKING, sings all of his music with heart, and believes in what he sings, awesome job, if the Beatles was in the crowd they too would have got up and clapped...Adam Lambert, cant hold a candle to James, would be great if he could slip some old school Metallica in there
I was wondering how he was going to pull that off, considering the version of it he has on Youtube, which is very soulful and slow developing. Given the time limitation, I thought he did great, but really only showed a glimpse of his true capabilities with that song. Regardless, another great performance by Durbin.
I have to say, I wasn't a James fan until now. My God! Seriously, he sang his sox off and he exuded confidence and control. My man!
Not a good song choice for him. There are plenty of songs to show off his sensitive side and his vocal prowess. The belting end came out of nowhere. The whole thing felt kind of awkward, what with that constipated look on his face the whole time. It felt like he couldn't sit still or something.
This is my favorite George Harrison song and I think James did an okay job with it. I felt it was a little weak. The ending - his yowling - is what is similiar to Adam's. But, Adam is a much better singer than James.
Oh, I wish LIKE HELL you obnoxious Glamberts would stay the hell of the internet. SO WHAT that you think Lambert is a better singer, nobody else does. I should go around, just like you Lambert fans, and critique every song that Lambert sung and say "Eh, he's not as good as Prince" or "Adam could never hold a candle to Robert Plant" or "Adam screams too much, and his screams aren't nearly as good as Steven Tyler's" or "Adam's tongue is disgusting, it's not nearly as nice a tongue as Gene Simmons". I'm telling you, you women are the most irritating group of rabid middle aged women on the internet. Go spend time with your grandkids or your husband or your bridge club instead of your creepy 24/7 obsession with a screaming drag queen.
When I first saw the video of James singing this on youtube a couple of months ago, I was blown away. Tonight's performance was even better because he truly connected with the song. I loved it and loved watching the emotions on James' face. For the first time, he reminded me of Adam Lambert singing "Mad World."
I so agree with what GSM said, James is consistently good. Of all the contestants, he is the most consistent.
Love his voice! Every week he is consistently good! I haven't seen a performance of his that I haven't loved! Love the fact that he changes it up between ballads and rock. Very smooth, yet piercing, metal rock balladeer.
