This is / was / is the best "PERFORMANCE" of the 2011 season, so far. I'm pulling for a James / Haley finale, but we all know Scottie will be there. :-(
WOW, that performance BLEW me AWAY! He was so over the top, but in a really exciting to watch way. I think James has hand crowd pleasing performances every week. He really knows how to hold the audience in his palm. I think he needs a great band and can really bring back metal to the pop masses, ala the 80's and 90's with great bands like Guns & Roses and Metallica who were cross-over hits.
I'm not sure Idol is ready for a Metal Idol, but he has yet to be in the bottom 3! GO James!! He definitely deserves to be in top 3!
LOVE Muse! I was first distressed when I heard that anyone was going to sing this, I mean who could compare to the original Matt Bellamy, but I kinda got into it. I am actually beginning to like the eyebrow twitches, since James does not have control over them. SO, overall, I was pleasantly surprised.
This dude freakin rocks! I am sorry if some can't fathom that, but he blows everyone else away. I don't see the Adam comparison other than the high octave. He sounds way better than Lambert.
I've never heard that song until now - so James' version was the only one to compare to. It was phenomenal. Gazillion artists can't take the stage the way he does and deliver performance and vocal so well.
Im so over the hype on this adam lambert wannabe......the screaming is really gettin on my last nerve......anyone who think he is gonna win is crazy.....
I wish I could sing that high lol! Somewhat nasal, but James can really sing. LOVE the arrangement and performance. :)
UGH DISLIKED HIM FROM AUDITIONS IDOL ALREADY HAS ONE "OF HIM"! aDAM LAMBERT TRY CASEY OR HALEY THERE HASNT BEEN A JAZZ IDOL
W00t! James channeling Adam Lambert tonight!! The high pitched verses? Well, what can I say, you either LIKE it or you DON'T. It was the same with Adam Lambert, and he has a huge following now (and did on Idol, too). James is by FAR my favorite this year, and I want him to WINNNNN!!! He is the best performer, most entertaining, has the most vocal control, and is the most consistently good. If you don't agree, you must've been cokin' up with Charlie!
I give him points for sheer cojones. As far as level of difficulty goes, tackling Muse is probably one of the more challenging artists that has been performed on this show, ever. They're artistic geniuses, gods among us mortals. And I think James operates on a different plane of existence, too.
James is not really good...his screams are very out of place...he's rocker act is just a facade....his voice is too thin for rock...he doesn't give justice to the rock songs that he sings...i don't know why the judges keep on praising him...for me he's just another adam lambert wanna be...he copies adam's techniques and styles...even adam's tactics in the show...going for all rock and then going mellow somewhere in the middle...what a douche....
It feels more controlled and subdued than his other reckless performances. And that's why this feels more haunting. Love the theatricality. Good for him!
Great song choice too!
I think james should do something of the slash album with andrew stockdale or myles kennedy or really do something different again like the mars volta
I really enjoyed this performance - but I think it had more to do with the fact that this song is amazing than it did with James' performance. His performance was fine, but I'm not sure it was spectacular because the song isn't super-challenging other than when he jumped an octave (which was "off", imo).
He is totally ripping off Adam Lambert form the voice to the style to the theatrics. I mean come on, get your own act.
THANK God , for JAMES DURBIN. I LOVE HIM, THE BEST !!!!!!!!! Why cant people love him and Adam both, I DO. WIN ! JAMES WIN !
that was the best so far this season - his control is amazing - and he's really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really cute
Could not handle those high notes...
But, this was the first time I've smiled during a Durbin performance, though that might have just been for the song.
I'm really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, tired of the screaming. It's the same thing every time.
Totally feeling you on James. I think James is great. He's exciting. And I love it that he's bringing metal rock back! So cool! And he has a nice range to go with his rockin' screams! Love all of it!!!! I also loved Casey and Haley's performances. So cool! I voted for all three of them last night. Had to spread the love out a little bit! They make me smile!!!
Well, well, well ~ No big surprise! Adam haters no matter where ya go!! That's o.k.! One thing I can say it's funny how there are no "cat caught in a lawn mower remarks" for James! Wonder way (said with a lot of sarcasm ment)! If James wins, that will show just how HOMOPHOBIC America is!
No one will EVER come close to Adam! You can make assinine remarks to my comment all you won't, I won't be back to see them!! James is so overated!!
Mars Volta would be fantastic, except he'd get criticism for copying Adam Lambert. Apparently in season 8 he signed a contract that gave him a monopoly on all alternative music in the history of the show.
Adam is glamrock, James is metal rock. There is room for both artists! You can love both of them! I still love Adam's Ring of Fire--it's one of my favs. I love James so much, and hope he wins. Obviously huge rock groups like Muse are watching Idol--cool! Muse singer asked James to sing the song an octave higher. Look at James go! James for the WIN! That boy has balls, huge balls! To do metal on Idol, and now, MUSE an octave higher! YAY!
Connie is right Lambert DIDN'T invent glam rock.
I could just as say that Lambert ripped off Dizzy" Dean Davidson (which he totally did)
I'm sorry, I must have missed the episode where Adam Lambert hired a drumline?
Don't get me wrong, Adam is an incredible artist, but he's not the first singer in the history of music to wear black eyeliner and hit high notes. Screamo? Anybody?
Are you sure you are talking about James Durbin? Cute??????????????????????? Oh well, to each his own!
Cute?? He looks rough to me - and that tail needs to be cut off! Nothing cute about James - crooked teeth and bad boy looks.
The octave higher thing didn't suit the song - ruined it actually. I think ppl should be judged on their perfomances and not their troubles - the troubles don't sell the cds.
Did he do it an octave higher like James? I think not. James rocked it! I love James, and have from the very beginning. I think he is inspirational to other people who have to deal with stuff and still he continues to fight. He has asbergers and tourettes, and normally that would keep someone down, but not James. James for the WIN!
