This did him better than "Don't Stop Believing" because the arrangement was not one most of us are familiar with and made it seem different. That said...when he is at the top of his register (read screaming) he does get pitchy. And this is a singing contest, I don't need to hear all of the guitar solos.

Haley sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only reason I am watching AI is because of James Durbin he has been the only one who every week delivers something, and the clarity in his voice is so pure, even though I am not a heavy metal fan,he is great. He has something magic on the stage. Haley is too much into herself, mirror, mirror on the wall who is the fairest of them all.

This is James Durbin at his best. This performance was pure id (look it up). Vocally it may not have been perfect, but who cares? It was so much FUN. James Durbin is the reason we play Guitar Hero. The leather, the scarf, the electric guitar licks, the stupid poses. Loved it all.

If you don't like screaming, you don't like screaming. But that has nothing to do with his vocal ability, it's a matter of taste. This kid was born in the wrong decade. He embodies everything that is rock 'n roll - the swagger, the spectacle, the attitude. Even the disapproving naysayers kind of fulfill the narrative.

I think he's makin' Poppa Steven and a whole bunch of other old school rockers proud.

Goooooo James!!! Loved it. Best of the night hands down. James is a lot like Adam in that you either love his style or you don't. I must say I was disappointed he didn't work in the hip swivels as Lady Gaga suggested...but I think she was a little TOO into it. lol

James needs to drop the 'rock star stance' at the end of every song. It's getting a bit cliché. I wish he'd have moved his hips a bit more like Gaga was suggesting instead of running all around the stage. That said, I thought it was solid. That guy has total control of his audience. (and yeah, he does remind me of Sebastian Bach; the rock one, not the Johann one). ;-}

this whole wannabe adam lambert style is just not good. he should try to resemble himself, and quit trying to be someone that is way better than he is.

Wait... you mean Adam Lambert doesn't own exclusive rights to hitting high notes at the end of songs? That's news to me.

On a sidenote...if he's a wannabe, he's been acting the part for a long time now. Like... since his childhood. There are hours of YouTube footage of him singing this style of music. On one hand, it's possible that TPTB have been plotting a secret conspiracy to infiltrate AI and bring about the resurrection of hair metal. OR, maybe that's just who he is.

He resemble himself. He is not a wannabe. The reason for saying that he's a wannabe is that we are the one who put the comparison. Vocally they are not the same. Stylistically, they are also not the same. To scream is not Adam Lambert's trademark. Steven Tyler can scream to.

Also, try listening to both artists studio recordings. From there you will see that there is no point of comparison at all!

James rocks! It is the right thing to end up the show. No doubt his first performance is not at his best but this one is so great. James scream because his genre is rock. If we assume that screaming is annoying, and some successful rock stars are literally screaming; therefore Steven Tyler "The Demon of Screamin" and Aerosmith is annoying to.

Every artist cannot please everyone. However, I still love how James sing

What a sad excuse. Imagine if James had gone on Idol before Adam. Would you say that Adam reminded you of James Durbin's Love Potion #9 if Adam sang in a similar style?? Haley's boring, she has NO artistry at all. CanNOT wait until she goes.
