JAMAR promo(Los Angeles, CA – September 11, 2013) – Jamar Rogers, 31, former contestant of NBC’s “The Voice” was placed in intensive care earlier this week after initially seeking treatment for a lung infection. After his performance at EastWest Studios in Hollywood last Tuesday September 3rd, Jamar Rogers checked in with medics under the recommendation of his manager where he was diagnosed with a lung infection. However, due to the state of his condition and general health, Jamar has spent the last week in the hospital where on Monday was taken into critical condition. This comes at a pivotal time in Jamar’s career. Having just signed to Tommy Boy Entertainment, he recently finished filming a music video for his upcoming single “Drink of You” set to be released on October 8th with the video premiering 2 weeks later.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time Jamar has dealt with physical hardships. In 2006, he was diagnosed with HIV. Since then, he has been actively working in his community to demystify HIV and to remove the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS, along with doing his best to spread a message of hope and second chances to a generation of young people living with HIV/AIDS.

Since being a finalist on the second season of NBC’s “The Voice”, more and more people are starting to notice Jamar Rogers. His voice has been called “the Otis Redding of our time” and his musical style fuses old soul, rockabilly rock and southern blues made for a contemporary audience. Currently, Jamar has signed with Tommy Boy Entertainment, and is looking forward to releasing a single later this year with a full length studio album in early 2014. In addition to recording, Jamar is touring across the country packing out venues, has shared the stage with CeeLo Green, Jennifer Hudson, Sheryl Lee Ralph and was called “the soul of this generation” by the late, iconic Phil Ramone. Jamar has also been given great recognition for his ability as an inspirational speaker, and has been invited to speak at several colleges, charities and award shows.
