On Monday, former Project Runway host/judge Heidi Klum will be officially announced as the fourth judge of America’s Got Talent, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Klum will join Mel B of the Spice Girls as the newest panelists alongside returning judges Howard Stern and Howie Mandel.

The former model scored an Emmy nomination in 2008 for her role on Lifetime’s Project Runway, which she also executive produces. In addition, Klum has hosted the German version of the popular reality series since 2006. Klum also served as emcee of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on numerous occasions, so this isn’t exactly virgin territory for the well-seasoned TV pro.

This is already shaping up to be a controversial season for the hit summer series. Mel B signed on in February to replace Sharon Osbourne, who who departed the show in August after claims that NBC fired her son Jack from its competition series Stars Earn Stripes following his diagnosis with multiple sclerosis. NBC has vehemently-refuted the claim, but it hasn’t halted the negative press for the already-troubled network.

In sunnier news, Klum’s addition makes this the first time America’s Got Talent has had a four-judge panel – thus, this has the potential to substantially alter the dynamic of the series in interesting ways. Yet even if it doesn’t, AGT is routinely among the summer’s top-rated shows, so one would imagine NBC is anxiously anticipating the show’s return.
