HBO has announced a feature-length documentary centering on Beyonce, slated to debut Feb. 16. Beyonce will also helm and exec produce the doc.
Pic will offer access to the notoriously private star’s life and performances, chronicling her childhood in Houston and her career ascent. “Everybody knows Beyoncé’s music, but few know Beyoncé the person,” said Michael Lombardo, prexy of HBO Programming. “Along with electrifying footage of Beyoncé onstage, this unique special looks beyond the glamour to reveal a vibrant, vulnerable, unforgettable woman.”
Beyonce said in a statement that some of her “favorite shows are on HBO,” and that the paybler “has a history of pushing every boundary with class and authenticity.” She continued: “I am excited that my film will be part of its bold programming. This film was so personal to me, it had to have the right home.”
