SUPERSTAR HALEY REINHART’S “FREE” WAS THE EXIT SONG FOR AMBER JACKSON ON SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 25TH, ON FOX
(Los Angeles, CA, July 26, 2012) — SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE viewers were rewarded with a special treat during the performance and results show last night. After America’s vote was revealed to send home female contestant Amber Jackson, AMERICAN IDOL Season 10’s favorite singer-songwriter Haley Reinhart’s single “Free” off her debut album Listen Up!, was playing as America waved the eliminated contestant goodbye. The song will continue to be the goodbye anthem for the duration of the season.
Haley Reinhart — the 21-year-old Illinois native who won over AMERICAN IDOL viewers with her unique, standout performances and jazzy vocal style as a Season 10 finalist — released her debut album Listen Up! (19 Entertainment/Interscope Records) this past May to critical praise. The New York Times declared it “a taut album full of meaty, thickly arranged pop-soul that suits her booming voice extremely well” and USA Today gave the album 3 stars “..a vivacious bit of post-Adele neo-soul.” Artist Direct said “Haley Reinhart has made one of the best debuts of 2012, and she might just help revive a little old soul in the process.” Listen Up! is a retro-flavored, yet thoroughly contemporary-sounding collection of songs, penned by Haley, along with her collaborators: Mike Elizondo, busbee, Rob Kleiner, Rune Westberg, and Chris Seefried. Haley will perform at Lollapalooza in Chicago on August 3rd.
In two weeks, on Wednesday, August 15 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed), the competition continues on another two hour live show, when the Top 14 finalists: Lindsay Arnold and Cole Horibe; Witney Carson and Chehon Wespi-Tschopp; Audrey Case and Matthew Kazmierczak; Eliana Girard and Cyrus Spencer; Janelle Issis and Dareian Kujawa; Amelia Lowe and Will Thomas; and Tiffany Maher and George Lawrence II – compete once again for America and the judges. Also, the Top 14 will dance some of Mia Michaels’ greatest routines, with each couple performing a favorite Michaels-choreographed dance from past seasons. Additionally, choreographers Michael Nunn and Billy Trevitt – otherwise known as the Ballet Boyz – will join the panel as guest judges.
