Google’s Humanoid Robot Walks In The Snow And It’s Terrifying

Meet the new version of Atlas – the robot from Google’s Boston Dynamics – which was designed to work outdoors. While it tries to balance itself in the snow and lift boxes in the warehouse, try not to freak out at the realization that it’s just a matter of time before our robot overlords take over.

Human robots are coming much sooner than we think.

From Boston Dynamics:

A new version of Atlas, designed to operate outdoors and inside buildings. It is electrically powered and hydraulically actuated. It uses sensors in its body and legs to balance and LIDAR and stereo sensors in its head to avoid obstacles, assess the terrain and help with navigation. This version of Atlas is about 5′ 9″ tall (about a head shorter than the DRC Atlas) and weighs 180 lbs.
