FX Cancels ‘The Comedians’ After One Season

And it’s curtains for The Comedians.

FX has canceled the comedy, starring Billy Crystal and Josh Gad, after just one season. Showrunner Ben Wexler made the official announcement on Twitter:

A remake of a Swedish series, The Comedians debuted to 878,000 viewers in live-same-day returns, but dropped to a paltry 306,000 same-day viewers by the end of its 13-episode run on June 25. Ultimately, the show just couldn’t find an audience.

Although one silver lining in all this is that the series received an Emmy nomination: Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for Mel Brooks. Still, FX execs had already made up their mind, and despite being the return of Billy Crystal to television, it looks like The Comedians is staying canceled.
