My friend the Filipino Librarian noticed that a search on the word Filipina overwhelmingly points to sex-related or mail-order-bride web sites. Our hope is that every Filipino blog out there and some blogs with significant Google-influence help us out by linking the word Filipina to The Filipina in Cyberspace. Here’s the code:
<a href="http://filipinolibrarian.blogspot.com/2005/

Thanks.

Our website was first started back on December 31, 2003 as a Yahoo Group. The site started out as a dedication to the wife of the current owner. His loneliness for her on New Years Eve motivated him to start a Yahoo Group to dedicate how sexy and lovely she was while waiting for a extremely long frustrating process through the USA immigration process.
The Yahoo Group “Sexiest Filipinas” evolved into a dating and information site for Filipina and men from around the world. Many couples started their relationships with that Yahoo Group and many conversations occurred that helped many people to prepare and endure through a long visa process. Eventually, Yahoo and their narrow minded one-sided opinion saw the site as being an adult site because of the word “Sexiest”. The word “Sexiest” is meant to indicate how gorgeous the Filipina are and to attract men with the word to the Yahoo Group. Even now, most male members are attracted to the word and do realize that it is very true!
With the incredible demand from the men to be in that group and the ability to provide a better environment to communicate than the Yahoo group, this website was developed. We hope that you enjoy this dating website and we are sure that you will agree that the “Sexiest women in the world come from the Philippines“!!

P.S. I have a detailed log of events from the entire 3 year frustrating visa process. It can be very educational for those that are thinking of aquiring a US Visa or are in the process now. Please go to our website and email through our "Contact" page.
just a comment about the "FILIPINA" issue... it is truly degrading and indeed, a racist remark coined by people of the lowest kind.. Only, they did not know that. Every human being deserves to be respected regardless of race, religion or ethnicity. But then again, this is not so common to the so called "educated people of the world" because they themselves do not know the meaning of their very existence except pure and simple IDIOTIC ARROGANCE...Now, be that as it may, WE NEED TO LIVE IT AND EMBRACE IT for what matters most is that WE HAVE PROVEN THEM WRONG IN SO MANY TIMES AND SO MANY WAYS...THAT FILIPINOS ARE HERE TO STAY AND BITCHING STILL! So, let them and leave them...
You know, this effort in America to clamp down on Western men marrying Filipinas is nothing more than an extension of the racism that white women took with them to the Philippines in the early 1900s. It was a horrible war, but the G.I.s saw something in the Filipina they do not see at home and we see it today.
I am willing to travel 8,000 miles, speak with a woman I amy not understand very well, change my life, save my sick time, vacation time, and money...go months, perhaps years without the woman I love in order to get her over here with me and YOU try to make me the bad guy.
Well, please deal with the fact that I would never marry anything BUT a Filipina and if it requires me LEAVING here, I will do it. 80% of Western-Filipina marriages make it while less than 50% of Western-Western marriages make it. Wonder why? The American woman should take a look and see why I am willing to go to such lengths to marry my Catherine when I will not even drive down the damn street for her.
There is equality and there is sameness and they are not the same thing.
"I think it’s a pointless exercise. I’m a female, but refer to myself as a Filipino rather than a Filipina. How many other countries still use separate terms for their male and female nationalities?"
This is an answer for Anna above. Hmmm...heard of the term 'latina'? That's a lot more familiar than 'filipina' and likewise wouldn't want others ruining that exotic flair.
Hello all Filipina lovers
While I applaud your efforts to up lift the internet image of Filipina I have to object to the direction your cause is now taking. I operate a website called FilipinaWedding.com. My wife’s family back in the Philippines is attempting to sell advertising space on that website.
We have worked pretty hard to write favorably about the Philippines, Filipinas, and the whole image YOU yourselves are trying so desperately to protect. But now we have numerous people who copy the content of our website and publish it as their own work triggering a Google Duplicate content filter that would diminish all of our hard work promoting this site AND the image of Filipinas world wide.
Go there, read the articles, and if you have any objections to the content write me and I’ll correct it. But please don’t create phony websites dedicated to destroying the Google rankings of my site Filipinawedding.com
Currently my bother in law in Cebu is out of work and is trying to sell advertising on that site to little Mom and Pop sized Wedding shops in the area. Not at the prices you see on your own Philippine Newspaper Websites that are completely out of reach for the average Filipino. But at prices they can afford and benefit from.
So while I think it is admirable in your quest to uplift the Filipina internet image. PLEASE practice the quality I so much admire in people from the Philippines, and practice a little Delikadesa in your approach
Thank You
Joseph
Just found out from a friend from Gabriela Women's party that they do have a website:
http://www.gabrielaphilippines.net
I suggest that we also use the URL when we link to the word Filipina. :)
I am glad that the Google search results aren't always towards the mail order brides anymore :) Thanks to you and all the bloggers who made an effort.
You rock! :D
hi anna, i think i can understand where you're coming from, but the term exists and if we do not claim the word "filipina," then only the perverts will use it online and the filipina will be known primarily as a sex object and not the multi-faceted woman that she is.
drakulita: the word exists in several dictionaries online and offline. show them to your professor =)
grammatically, "Filipina" doesn't exist but would you rather ignore the disturbing google results than support this cause?
:)
I think it's a pointless exercise. I'm a female, but refer to myself as a Filipino rather than a Filipina. How many other countries still use separate terms for their male and female nationalities? I think it's sexist, and that we should just drop the word already.
heyy rickey, this is totally unrelated but, lol....
i totally want you to continue ur fan fiction!!!!
i'm in the mood for some fiction.
Hi Rickey. Thanks for the comment on my blog. We won't see results overnight. Von's on the right track: multiple sites should be "pushed" to cover the top 10 results. It would really have little effect to push just one site. To "clean" the Google SERPs, we need to push many websites. The links should also be present in as many pages as possible, not just on one page. I recommend a sitewide link somewhere in the menu perhaps. This will ensure maximum carnage :)
To check if the campaign's making progress, you have to look at all the different google datacenters, not just one. One tool to use would be http://www.mcdar.net/dance/index.php.
Again, thanks for the contribution :) Mabuhay ka!
oh wow. this is soo degrading.
we used to be associated with maids and now filipinas are mail to order brides?!
hay buhay!
"Helping out the Filipino Librarian's uplift the Filipina on Google effort"
btw, there seems to be a missing word... or something =)
thanks for the support! as to the last comment, i'd rather think that she finds the results distasteful and just forgot to add that she supports the effort.
