Fantasia Barrino didn’t have a contract for Mahalia Jackson movie

American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino was on the phone with Wendy Williams this morning to discuss her pregnancy and her Mahalia Jackson film.

First of all some baby news: Fantasia said she is having a boy! She’s due Dec. 29, and she won’t confirm if she’s still with hottie boyfriend Antwaun Cook.

However, the movie thing seems to be a disaster. She said she has not spoken to the family of Mahalia Jackson. And the last time she spoke to them, they told her the investors of the movie had backed out. She also said that there was no contract signed to get on board with the movie. Shocker! Then why did she attempt to gain weight and study the role when there was no contract set in stone? Who works like that?

Listen to Fantasia in her own words:

Marie, She WAS preparing for the movie (not filming), didnt you hear that part on WendY? One does not need a signed contract in order to prepare for a role. And she could not have been pregnant when the Grammys happened, that was too long ago. Do the math.

I personally will take FANTASIA'S word, not the NYPost's, whose goal is clearly to stir up a good controversy, regardless of the facts, in order to make a quick buck. IF she's lying, that's on her, but it sounds like the producers didn't have their shit together just as much as Fantasia may not have.....

Hmm....her manager told people that she was filming the movie, Mahalia...he said it at the Grammy awards and explained that's why she wasn't there to pick up the award. So who's telling the truth? The manager or Fantasia? Maybe he didn't know she was pregnant, do you think? He was a hard working guy, I remember him on the show, and he's probably more disappointed than we are. Fantasia wasn't signed to the movie, but according to her manager she was filming the movie....somebody's covering for somebody else.
