Eric Church Slams Blake Shelton & ‘The Voice'; Calling It ‘American Idol’ Gone Mad

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Country rocker Eric Church had a few choice words for Blake Shelton and reality singing competitions.

He first slams American Idol by saying Country music is too populated with artists from this show. Then, he goes on to slam Shelton and The Voice. What is interesting about this is that he has supported Miranda Lambert in the past — who also got her big break on Nashville Star many years back.

He says that if you try out for a show like this (referencing The Voice) that you aren’t a true artist. He continues:

“It’s become American Idol gone mad. Honestly, if Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green f—ing turn around in a red chair, you get a deal? That’s crazy. I don’t know what would make an artist do that. You’re not an artist.”

Also:

“If I was concerned about my legacy, there’s no f—ing way I would ever sit there [and be a reality-show judge]. Once your career becomes something other than the music, then that’s what it is. I’ll never make that mistake. I don’t care if I f—ing starve.”

And then he went on to bash Lollapalooza:

“Rock & Roll has been very emo or whatever the f—. It’s very hipster. We played Lollapalooza and I was stunned at how pussy 90 percent of those bands were. Nobody’s loud. It’s all very f—-n’ Peter, Paul and Mary sh–.”

Huh. Maybe that day was just a bad day for him.

Shelton then addressed the matter via his Twitter account, simply saying:

Lambert even took to her account to vent:
