Emily Rios and Matthew Lillard Promoted to Series Regulars for ‘The Bridge’ Season 2
In a bit of a no-brainer decision, FX’s The Bridge has promoted Emily Rios and Matthew Lillard to series regulars for season 2 of the hit summer drama.
Rios and Lillard play El Paso Times reporters Ariana Mendez and Daniel Frye, and the two characters featured heavily into the overarching narrative of the show’s first season, appearing in nearly every one of the first thirteen episodes. They’re likely to figure into the second season in a big way, having discovered a home filled with cash that will drive the investigation on both sides of the El Paso/Juarez border for next year. It should be interesting stuff, provided the writing is as consistent in season 2 as it was in season 1.
Prior to The Bridge, Rios was best known for her role as Jesse Pinkman’s doomed girlfriend Andrea Cantillo on Breaking Bad. Lillard, meanwhile, has mostly made his name in film, with high-profile roles in the Scooby-Doo and Scream franchises, in addition to a critically-acclaimed turn opposite George Clooney in The Descendants.
The Bridge Season 2 premieres summer 2014 on FX.
