Got Something to Add?
she was mad, the song was sick and im a zeplin fan, i hate to throw this out there,, but - i liked it better then the zeplin vertion .. but hey thats just me..
Thank goodness she is no Adam Lambert. This song was right in her wheel house. When she rocks it there is a lot of Janis Joplin's voice going on. I thought this was a great performance all around. She was so clearly comfortable and in her element doing this. Actually I was surprised, I had placed her as more of a jazz style singer, but this certainly shows that she can rock with the best. What a close to the show
Couldn't agree more with Roberta!! Besides, she's a Zeppelin fan with her own band. I doubt she even knows who Adam is, much less idolize him. Please. She clearly has greater idols.
"Trying hard to be Adam Lambert" - yeah, and doing it better than Lambert. True Zeppelin fans would agree. The others don't matter.
"No Adam Lambert" - that's right... she was BETTER. Exactly right Rickey. I knew you would get it right.
LOL Haters. This performance was brilliant. The Zeppelin and Lambert biases aside, this woman is the best this season has to offer. That vibrato, stage control, and her perfectly placed Joplin wails sold this song solid gold.
She did good!! and people are just being stupid.. cause Adam covered the song before.. who the heck cares.. they're to different artist.. who put a different spin on the song.. for god sakes grow up glamberts lol
When Rickey said she's no Adam Lambert, he was exactly right and it has nothing to do with gender - it doesn't matter that she's a girl. The point is that she didn't have the pipes to pull off this song the way that Adam did. She even tried to copy the dramatic a cappella finish that Adam did and it was nowhere near as good. She can't hit the same high notes, not even close. If I had never heard Adam's version, I might have been impressed.
DO NOT TOUCH A SONG THAT ADAM LAMBERT SANG ON IDOL because you will FAIL, Sorry Elise, you will be leaving tomorrow!
Adam Lambert = Pitching a hissy fit in public and going to jail with his gay lover. Yeah, everyone wants to emulate that. He sucks..
I just dont feel any emotions at all... Dont get me wrong.... Is she working as a hotel lobby entertainer or something?
No, she can't be Adam Lambert. For one thing, she's nice and has a wonderful personality and attitude UNLIKE snob boy. Adam is full of himself.
@rickey I don't think she was trying to be anything like him, that was Elise being Elise to me. Elise has that 70's rock vibe. #awesomeness
Girrrrrrl!!! She's got SOME balls of STEEL to do that song... And she totally pulled it off!! Wow. Wow. Wow. I'm super impressed. I knew she's a great blues/jazz singer, but I didn't know she had rock'n roll pipes like that. Bloody hell. Respect!
@bwatt27 "best season has to offer? lol
@JulieBarbara Who cares. Did Janis Joplin have a range like Adam? No, but what sets people like her (and Elise) apart from Adam is that they have soul and heart and really drive home the phrasing and lyrics of a song. This version was far superior to Adam's.
And finally she's not in the first half or middle of the show, haha. But I'm sure she'll be back there next week. ;p
@chinitony07 Yes--so I'm assuming you like one of the lesser talents that need some serious polishing and experience.
@jlscott13 You could say the same about country singers or Bob Dylan - they are good at selling the lyrics with heart and soul, but it doesn't make me like them. Everyone has different taste. I prefer artists with a wide vocal range and technical skills, and it is certainly possible to be both emotive and technically great - which I think Jessica was last night. Different strokes...
@bwatt27 and I'm assuming that you are one of those people who always thinks themselves are great. And if she is or that performance is your "best", maybe you need more exposure of what a great performance is.
@JulieBarbara Just a reminder that Elise is a vocal coach. She also has vocal range and the technique that you talk about :)
