Dr. Luke to judge ‘American Idol’ – Confirmed

Confirmed: Dr. Luke is the third judge on American Idol Season 13.

Confirmed by E News:

Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez have a new seat partner on the American Idol judging panel.
E! News can confirm that music producer Dr. Luke has officially signed on as the 3rd judge for the Fox reality show.

This was not a good decision in my opinion, but I am still open to surprises.

However, I have a feeling that during the premiere in January 2014, even the most loyal fans will realize that the show is barely a skeleton of its old self and the show is done.

American Idol had a great run, but sadly, it’s over now.

Earlier:

Dr. Luke is closing a deal to judge American Idol 13 alongside Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban, Deadline reports. Boo. This is not the panel I was hoping for.

Dr. Luke is the producer for many hits including:

Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone”
Flo Rida’s “Right Round”
Kei$ha’s “Tik Tok”
Katy Perry’s “California Gurls”

But will he make a good judge? Sigh. I kinda lost interest all of a sudden. I wanted Scooter Braun.

Dr. Luke to judge ‘American Idol’ – Report

From Deadline:

Despite other names surfacing over the past week, I’ve learned that Dr. Luke is closing a deal to join Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez as the third judge on the upcoming 13th season of Fox’s American Idol. Additionally, original Idol judge Randy Jackson continues negotiations to replace Jimmy Iovine as in-house mentor.

When Dr. Luke’s name first surfaced as a leading contender for a judge gig on Idol, the news prompted headlines like “Dr. Who?” But while the general public may not be familiar with Dr. Luke, they are very familiar with a lot of his work.

Horrible choice

The name alone makes me laugh, is he seriously going to be referred to as 'Dr. Luke' at all times during the show? But meh, I barely watched last season, so I don't care too much for Idol at this point. Lost interest since Simon left.

Is Jimmy Iovine in or out? If he is out, does that mean Interscope is out as well?

Only time will tell if Dr. Luke is a good choice or not? I still have a little hope for idol.  :)  Not happy about JLo returning though. I hope these 3 will have some chemistry and idol finds some contestants that will excite us again.

He must be in their price range! He seems to have the credentials, but would he have the chemistry and opinions to stamp his mark on the AI panel? Who is tired of who is coming to AI?  JLo "goosies" sunk it for me.

@aquayers And I know (like a true reality-singing-competition addict) that I'll watch and hate myself afterwards ;)  Thank God for Rickey, so I can just see performances and not wade through all the other crap!

@ArchieSue On the bright side, I would be hard pressed to think Dr. Luke could be as bland as J-Lo or Keith. However, he could surprise us, and be even more bland.

@hrstump @ArchieSue Good point Howard. I hope he isn't bland. Dang it!  They should of kept Nicki and Keith and got a 3rd person.  I been rooting for John Legend or Harry Connick Jr or even Neil Patrick Harris.  Oh well...........................I  hope the new crop of contestants could save the show.

@hrstump @ArchieSue My strategy of lowering expectations will probably fail this year. I see this going really badly.
