‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ Wins Big at Visual Effects Society Awards 2015

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes continues its march towards Oscar glory, as the summer blockbuster won big at the Visual Effects Society Awards 2015. The film won three awards at the 13th annual ceremony, including the big prize of the night for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects-Driven Feature.

However, while Dawn of the Planet of the Apes won big, Disney’s Big Hero 6 actually won bigger, taking home five awards including Outstanding Animation in an Animated Feature Motion Picture and Outstanding Animated Character in an Animated Feature Motion Picture for the character of Baymax. This could help raise the film’s profile enough to give it a shot at besting How To Train Your Dragon 2 for the Best Animated Feature Oscar in three weeks. If nothing else, the movie’s team has won five statues to be proud of.

Another big winner at the ceremony was HBO’s Game of Thrones, which won three awards, including honors for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects-Driven Photoreal/Live Action Broadcast Program.

But who were the other winners at the big ceremony? Check out the full list of winners at the Visual Effects Society Awards 2015 below:
