American Idol runner-up David Archuleta is now the Philippines to star in the mini-series ‘Nandito Ako’ for TV5. He met co-stars Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Eula Caballero at the airport.
‘Nandito Ako’ is a popular Filipino song which I assume David will sing. It means “I’m here.”
During the press interview David talked about the Filipino food he has tasted and liked so far:
Tokwa’t Baboy (Tofu and Pork) – A dish with includes pork ears, pork belly and deep-fried tofu. It is dipped in a mixture of soy sauce, pork broth, vinegar, chopped white onions, scallions, and red chili peppers.
Sisig – Chopped pig’s head served on a sizzling plate.
Preparing sisig comes in three phases: boiling, broiling and finally frying. A pig’s head is first boiled to remove hairs and to tenderize it. Portions of it are then chopped and grilled or broiled. Finally, it is fried with onions and served on a sizzling plate.
