Daughtry, Adam Lambert to perform on American Idol this season

Chris Daughtry, Adam Lambert, James Durbin and Lauren Alaina are all scheduled to perform on American Idol this season, THR reports.

Will they help with the ratings slump? Hopefully. But it only reinforces the notion that Idol is living in the past. Sad that Idol seems to no longer be the show mainstream artists want to be on for publicity.

From THR:

In a tradition that goes back almost as long as American Idol has been on the air, several fan favorites from seasons past will perform on the show this year as a new group of hopefuls look on and marvel at their potential future.

Among the alums slated to appear are season 8’s Adam Lambert, season 10 runner-up and newly minted country star Lauren Alaina and fourth place finalist James Durbin and season 5’s Chris Daughtry, who will debut his new single from the album Break The Spell, “Outta My Head,” on the March 15 episode.

I really have no problem with inviting Idol alums to the live shows. I think doing so is a show of support for the alums and will at least boost their career. After all, Idol is still followed by the whole world. To be honest, I'd rather they do this than have some theme week to promote a movie or a singer's new album.

Maybe JLo can use her connections to reel in more star power. Like Marc Anthony! Oh, wait... nevermind...

Please let us know when, I'd love to see them, but I'm not watching Idol this season. Thanks Ricky, you rock! :-)
