Danny Tidwell — Finale — So You Think You Can Dance
C’mon guys, VOTE! Do it for me. Make Rickey happy. Do it for Sanjaya! For Ace! For Travis Wall! Vote for Danny Tidwell!
(Absolutely loved the Jameka clapping… hahaha)
This was constantly rejected by DailyMotion so here’s the direct link:
Got Something to Add?
First off ...
CONGRATULATIONS TO SABRA! Hugs, lady.
To Bettysline, aprylette, and stickyfly, thanks for the kudos! You guys rock, big time!!!
Now ... about Danny:
I have a LOT to say about this outcome, but the words keep getting in the way of the words ...
Yeah, I know. That sounds like complete chicken droppings, but it's true. I'll get a thought, but then another eats it up. I could write something right now, but I'd truly regret it in the long run because it wouldn't show every nuance of what I'm feeling. It would just show my DEEP disappointment ... not my mind.
IOW, I know what I want to say ... but how to say it ... oh, there's the rub. :-)
A writer without the proper words is like a dancer without feet.
They (the words) are what move me, but I can't find them at the moment....
Annnyway, when I can voice what my heart (and my MIND) want to say, I'll post it. Right now, the words are just running around in my head and I can't catch them to save my life.
For now, my heart is with Danny and his mom.
Rickey, once again ... thank YOU for this site.
Sabra Is Really Inspirational & Blahhhhh.
It`s A New Day But I Still Feel Upset.
It Just Doesn`t Feel Right That Danny`s Name Wasn`t Called.
Rickey - What a fantastic season! You've been Awesome! Absolutely Fantastic! They should get you up there to do a solo dance in memoriam of your hard work! Thanks again!
LOL. I guess I really ticked a lot of folks around here.
geesh! i'm not homophobic or care if danny gay or not. and i never "attacked" danny. saying that he may be gay is "attacking"? hmmmmm.... who's homophobic here? lol.
anyway, i think he will win tonight so just relax.
and i stand by my opinion/taste that i prefer a more street dancer who becomes well-rounded on the show rather than some well-oiled, trained and professional dancer for this show.
Thank you for all the kind words.
It's time for you right coasters to keep us impatient left coasters informed regarding the outcome of the competition.
This is my first post, but I’ve been a longtime lurker on Rickey's site. I love it and am very grateful to him for keeping it current.
But I digress...
The criticisms about Danny are just plain silly. The same people keep parroting the same ridiculous tripe that the judges parroted in the beginning. They do this while offering no intelligent commentary or original thinking. There’s nothing sustentative in their rants, just bitter vitriol and sour grapes.
Let a judge say something, and the ‘sheepled masses,’ having no novel thoughts of their own will repeat it nonstop, again and again. They repeat it so much they actually begin to believe it came from their own brains. And God forbid if they hate the object of their parroting. That gives them even more reason to spew their childish gibberish all over the internet.
The same thing happened during Season 5 of AI with Elliott. One judge says he has no personality or stage presence, then viola! Every Tom, Dick and Sally on the internet and beyond starts spouting the same bulls**t. They couldn’t get him technically (because of his amazing voice) so they went for a gray area that the brain-dead and weak-minded could latch onto. George Orwell would’ve been proud.
Danny Tidwell is an amazing dancer with a bright future ahead of him. Whether he's gay or straight has nothing to do with the gift God has given him. I judge his dancing. Since I don't walk on water, can't dance to save my life, don't have a crystal ball to see him during his private moments, have no talent at mind-reading, nor have I ever been a fly on the wall in his house, I'm the last person to criticize or judge Danny. I’m in no position to make assumptions about him, his personality or anything else. I DON'T KNOW HIM and neither do any of these people who are trying to belittle him.
But I **do** know a tree by its fruit. If nothing but bitter vitriol spews from your keyboard, and if you can’t think of anything positive to say EVER, then you’re definitely in NO position to criticize anyone. Not only that, but I'd venture to guess you’ve got more problems than you think Danny Tidwell does.
Loved your informed and intelligent rebuttals of the arguments that Danny should not have been allowed to compete or be given props for his performances on SYTYCD because he is an accomplished professional.
If the producers of the show felt that one's professional credentials presented unfair advantages , then they would have barred those contestants from the competition. Nigel and other judges, choreographers have noted several times that the level of dancing this season has been superior to other seasons. One of the reasons for this is because the presence of professionals and/or contestants with numerous commendations and a rich dance background have raised the bar and elevated standards of excellence. Otherwise, we would could mediocre dancers as we did in past seasons.
Keep up your superb comments,Bettysline. I, for one, fully support what you say about Danny and thoroughly appreciate and enjoy your calm, informed, and intelligent responses.
Danny was awesome! I hope he or Sabra wins the title. As long as Danny, Sabra, or Neil BEATS Lacey I will be happy ^_^
No. It doesn't matter whether Danny or any of the performers are gay or straight - just that they perform & entertain & that, they did! And my god! Danny just exceled! Danny, you're beautiful. GO DANNY FOR THE WIN!!!!!!
I felt bad for Wade Robeson. It's one thing for the dancers to get a critique. They are in this to win a competition and prize money. What do the choreographers for their creations? I am sure they get paid but .. Ouch, I felt bad for him. They clearly did not get the "fox" dance (for a FOX show, hmmmm).
i can't stop watching his solo...amazing! does anyone know if the choreographers were giving him a standing ovation?
BETTYSLINE-- re response #62-- Thank you. That's what I thought they were mouthing: Like "What was that? That was outrageous!" I cracked up when Travis fell backwards in a mock faint. (I think that's what it was, I was so in awe of the dance that I could only think of Danny's dancing.)
Heavyblow has the right to have his favorite but I don't understand his attacks on Danny and specifically his need to mention the fact that Danny may or may not be gay. I don't understand the importance of that. We aren't looking for America's favorite STRAIGHT dancer...are we?
I liked the addition of Cat's interviews. I missed the episode with Danny's audition. Did they really give him a pass directly to Vegas after seeing him for about 5 seconds or was the clip above just edited to appear that way?
heavyblow, what is it that you have against danny? i don't understand it. He was amazing last night. I can only sum up your conclusions about him as jelousy and denial because you keep jumping from one thing (i.e. personality, credentials) to another to explain your dislike, or even as far as disdain (at this point), of danny. There is only one thing for me to ask you, What's your freakin' problem? geez!
bettysline, thank you for eliminating any possible reasons for heavyblows doubts about danny, his reasons can only be seen as someone being unreasonable. Its a shame.
mina, yeah, you're awesome.
tanvu, haven't we gone over this? and shouldn't you be on neils page?
Ok. So who could seriously be so stuppid to think that Danny doesn't deserve to be there because of his proffesional background. Melinda doolittle on American Idol had a "proffesional" background in singing and look at how many people thought that she should have won.The fact that you have a proffesional background doesn't change the fact that he should win. The talent show isn't only about finding the unknown dancers and giving them a name, it's about finding THE MOST talented of the whole bunch trying as hard as possible to make sure that they win. Why because having a proffesional background doesn't change the fact of hard that one particular person works. This season that one particular person was Danny.
Also, did anyone else see how Neil looked "Defeated" last night. After Danny's solo into Male Duo and to the end of the night, He wasn't his normal self.
Oh my Gosh heavyblow!
Danny works hard and has worked hard to get to where he is, just because he makes all the other guys look like crap doesn't make him less qualified for this competiton. Like you saw in his interview he had to work hard with opening up to America. Trust me as a ballet dancer its a lot easier to dance and pour your heart and soul out to the world, but ballet teaches you to have respect and poise, something that the other guys didn't have.
I have watched Danny in many ballet auditions when he was at Kirov (now Universal) and I was in awe of him and I still am in awe. His artistry and attention to detail is amazing.
Now to last night's show, I was so happy with Danny of course, but I now have a new found love of Lacey, and I would like to see her and Danny in the top two, with Danny being on top :). I was very disappointed with Neil. I had to stop watching his solo, because of his shoulders, if they got any higher he wouldn't have a head.
I loved last night's show, it made me wish that my season would start back up so I can get back to my rehearsals, lol.
The most homophobic people tend to be deeply insecure about their own sexuality or even closeted self-hating gays. It's quite sad and pathetic.
I understand your frustration. I have always believed that people who have to dog on others aren't well adjusted with whom they are. It's easier to pick on others than it is to deal with one's own self.
Oh for fuck's sake. Give it a rest, heavyblow. Or better yet, get lost. I'm sick of your homophobic bullshit. It's so obvious you have some hateful vendetta against gay people. Well, guess what? Our host on this site, Rickey, is gay too. So reading all your bigoted garbage spewed on his blog week after week is especially irritating and disrespectful to Rickey. If gay people bug you so much, then leave. Or watch football instead of a reality show with male dancers.
p.s. I have no problem w/ Sabra winning....if Danny doesn't. However, Danny IS the best dancer of the lot. Hands down. AND I love his playful, joyful personality.
I also admire the way all of the competitors are friends and the special bond between them. It goes to show that they are all decent human beings and I truely believe each of them will be happy for whomever wins this competition.
To say that one person doesn't deserve to win a competition because of their past accomplishments is plain silly to me.
Lacey holds countless titles in her genre of dance, as does Pasha and Anya....and various others that performed on that stage. As did Benji.
I know that Dominic is an accomplished dancer and teacher in the Sacramento, Ca area. (which includes Roseville & Rancho Cordova) In fact, he teaches at two establishments. Dominic also has a dance troupe that he performs with.
I don't know what HOK has done or does.
Regarding the "dating" issue. My apologies, I misunderstood.
Heavy, what if Danny is gay so what he could be bisexual we don't really know do we?? By the way Star Jones married a rumored "gay" guy. Anne Heche dated Ellen then Anne got married to a guy had a baby and is now going through a divorce. So you never know what could happen.
yah thats what i thought, but mine is verizon and i think its only if i was calling other verizon phones....but thanks guys!
beachbummin..all your calls should be free since almost everyone has unlimited calls after 9:00 p.m. on their cell phone. It's BEFORE 9:00 that you would use your minutes.
betty... i was only responding to someone saying danny and sabra should date. why? b/c they are of opposite sex?
anyone can fantasize about danny however they wish, i won't be jealous. :)
and thx. for that danny's credits... all the more reason i just don't think he should be on this show. too polished, professional and already accomplished. i'm not too empathetic to prodigies.
i'd prefer a hok or a dominic or a sabra or kameron for SYTYCD.
From the SYTYCD site:
How much does it cost to vote?
Telephone calls to the “So You Think You Can Dance” voting lines are toll-free so you will not be charged to vote. If you use a cell phone to call, airtime and applicable roaming and long distance charges will apply.
oh and does neone know how much it costs to call in and vote cuz i never usually vote, and i called in for danny and neil A LOT last nite
I'm bummed I haven't seen the waltz yet since it's supposed to be great. That said, I have seen all of Neil and Sabra's dances and I'll be honest, I think Sabra really bombed out. Her cha cha was pathetic (of course Nigel says technique doesn't matter anymore, I mean, it's only the finale) and her solo was o.k., but it seems that the others really raised their game and she just kinda plateaued as someone else said. Anyway, Danny and Neil's dance was by far the best.
did anyone notice that in neil and danny's dance, neil didnt pull off that strattle jump over danny's head? intentional or not?
it almost seems like danny didnt bend over enough to let him go...
but anyway, GO DANNY!
p.s. It should be obvious that some of the posters are not adults. Some "fantasies" should be left alone.
Regarding the gay issue...let me say this. I love the male revue group "THUNDER FROM DOWN UNDER". I know some of them are gay. However, I only want look. I don't NEED to touch ! What is wrong with admiring a nice looking person BECAUSE they are a nice looking person? What does sexual orientation have to do with beauty?
Regarding Danny's ability as a ballet dancer...the following might help you. You have been dogging on Danny since forever. Jealous?
Taken from one of Danny Tidwell's bios:
In 2001, he won second prize at an international ballet competition in Shanghai, China, then in 2002 he received the silver medal at the Jackson International Ballet Competition. Danny then went on to join the American Ballet Theatre’s Studio Company, and was hired in May 2003 as the ABT’s Corps de Ballet. He has worked on a number of classical ballet repertory productions such as Spectre de la Rose and Peasant pas de deux in Giselle. He also performed contemporary works by choreographers Robert Hill and William Forsythe. Danny is currently among the faculty of the New York City Dance Alliance, and performs with the Complexions Contemporary Ballet Company.
I believe Danny's brother, Travis and his mom were gesturing about Danny's solo routine. They were saying something like "what was that?" Like us all, they were so incredulous and amazed at the "no holds barred" performance he gave.
Danny's mom and Travis were not the only ones amazed. Even Benji Schwimmer had to give a standing ovation for Danny's solo performance. AND each and every judge gave him a standing ovation as well.
The man is beyond brilliant and it has been a real joy to watch him grow and in so many ways be bigger and better than those that stood in judgment of him.
I really like Danny and he is one of my favorites along with Sabra and Neil but how come only guys are the focus here. Rickey you are awesome but do you ever promote a girl/woman. It's always vote for certain people.
Sorry but I don't see Danny or Sabra getting together romantically for obvious reasons. However, friends would be great.
[I still keep to track of Kat, Carrie, Kelly and Fantasia as much as I am able. I am a big fan of Hayden (and some other girls/women who aren't doing anything right now). I may have ignored my male readers a bit by ignoring Lacey "I am Sex" Schwimmer, but I was concentrating on promoting Danny since so many zingers were put in his way very early. --R.]
tonia, but what if danny is gay. do you want them still date? :)
danny is a terrific dancer for sure. but is he that better than a lot of professional ballet dancers perform in major companies?
I hope that Danny and Sabra start dating, then get married and have beautiful babies who would be natural dancers. That was such a sweet comment he made about her.... Loved it....
I'm crazy in love with Danny and his "God" given talent. I really like Sabra she's very talented, I agree that Neil has improved the most. All and All I hope that a gift like Danny's gets rewarded and he wins!!!!
..written by s0x_prisoner,
I’m not a Danny fan, but I like him a lot more now. He had a GREAT night.
Lacey’s still my favorite, but based on this night alone, he deserves to win.
THAT'S THE BEAUTY TRUTH !
Even if you're not a fan, if you
tell the "truth", Danny was the
absolute BEST, last night.
I hope and pray Danny wins !
