What's wrong with 80's cover bands? - that's all I go see anymore - because music is lame now - anyway - love Casey - love the smiling!!

I thought that Casey did very well. He is trying to work on his stage presence and is at least aware that he needs to step it up in that department. Hopefully each week he will improve in this area. His vocals were really good and as usual his guitar work was great. One of the best performances of the night for me.

I agree with you Lacey. Casey is amazing on the guitar and his vocals last night were the best I think He's sung so far! Casey is HOT!

Did Casey just sing "Stronger and harder than a bad girl's dream"?!! Mercy!!! OK, that's listening w/my eyes...Now with my ears...Good 'cover' of Huey (sorry to say Simon was right). Casey still needs to take some 'stage presence' lessons. A bit awkward, yet. I so want him to do well...go Casey, go!

I totally disagree with Simon. What is he thinking??? Casey's swagger and soulful rock & roll talent is exactly what this lame Idol show needs. I'm so sick & tired of the same old "current" sounding teen pop idols ... the "current" music of today totally SUCKS! Casey is an old school rock & roll artist ... a refreshing change that most Americans long for.

I agree... what is "current" anyway? It seems that a good musician will set trends and not just follow them. Plus, there are lots of different sorts of music that are popular.

I think frequently when Simon says something doesn't sound current, he is just expressing a subjective dislike of the sound.

This is a textbook example of "karaoke." I really think that Casey knew he was safe this week as long as he didn't take any chances.

To hear three out of four judges offer praise for this dreck made me ill.

I think Simon is just jealous that Casey is so Hot and Simon is fugly! Casey sounded great. Vocals were solid and he is amazing on the guitar.... so sexy!

This was the kind of performance that the judges' term "karaoke" should be reserved for. He did a note-for-note cover of the song, and mimiced Huey Lewis precisely. How Kara thinks he made this lame song current is beyond me.

I agree Jack - he sounds like Bob! I want him to sing one of Bob's songs! I think he can make Bob current again! If he could do Bob acoustic and show the gritty, raw vocals he would give Crystal a run for the money ( which I believe he is slowly picking up speed)

His pitch is solid and it is a fun song but he can do best with soulful song like "Heaven". He hot though and I like the way he played the guitar. He made the show A.I. a little more worthy to watch (compared to most of the Karaoke performances by others)

I really liked Casey tonight. Usually I think Siobhan and Crystal are the best, but tonight I liked Casey.

i love me some huey lewis, but c'mon, cheeseball beyond belief. it's so weird that he did the exact opposite of what he said on stage with ryan. he said he was going to start treating this like something other than a small club gig, and then he did exactly that! even with trying to get the band feel with the guys on stage. simon was right on. casey needs to kick up the smoulder with something heartfelt and serious next week.

I liked it but wish he could use the wireless mike and guitar system and work the stage more. He seems 'trapped' by the mike stand and guitar amp. doesn't this show have enough money to get Madonna head band microphones? Lots of bad performances tonight. I think they should just get rid of the bottom three and have the top 8 be on tour. Even then, they still won't sell many tickets. Paige was so bad I'll have to hire a cleaning service to come get the blood off the carpet that bled from my ears tonight!

I agree, he needs to use the wireless guitar system, they've never used headset mikes on idol before, yet they could put more mics with stands around the stage like how Keith Urban can jump from mic to mic during his concerts and still play guitar.... Paige has done the worst rendition of Against all odd on this show, she definalty needs to go and sealed her own fate with that song... They seem to be given a list that is sung on idol year and year to play the comparison or who sang it better game, why do they say the list is sooo huge yet they can't pick any songs that haven't been sung on idol before or make the songs not sound like the original but not far off from it too. The list they talk bout is soo huge yet the list the idols get to pick from must not be. Why can't they all pick current songs and make them their own? The best part was when casey told miley, he was a fan of her dads and not hers..it's expected since the guy hasn't had a tv since he was 7

I thought it was the cool performance. But, Kara completly over - rated him by saying that he is leaps above everyone else. He has a lot of work to do to catch up to some of the other contestants. He is decent but he is another one that will eventually fade out. I predict a Top 6 finish for him.

michael johns didn't do it for me until he did "it's so wrong but it's so right", which was incredible. that's the kind of thing i want to see casey do, you know, something of the knee-squeezing variety.

Casey would be a lot better if he could just put a little more energy and life into his performances. He doesn't have an overpowering voice so he really needs to sprinkle his singing with a little extra something else--whatever that is. But he's a really appealing guy who is coming across a bit plain vanilla because his performances need a little extra kick. I like him so I hope he gets better.

You nailed it....he has to a little something extra, be it more energy on stage, whatever...he seems to just "get through" his performances...but a cutie for sure.

I kind of have to agree. I like Casey and the way he presents himself but he is a bit plain. Actually I think this had to be one of his better vocals. I'm one to listen instead of watch and his voice wasn't as near as shaky as it usually is. But he is sort of plain, I'd like to see him kick it up.

Simon was 1 billion % right on. Casey was at best an 80's cover band level. The song was done in an old rock style in 1985 as Simon pointed out and Casey did nothing to make it current.
