Casey James – Heaven – Video MP3 American Idol Top 24 Performance

I have downloaded Casey James’ rendition of Bryan Adams’ “Heaven” and listened to it more times than I care to admit to simply because his voice sent shivers through my soul when I first heard it on American Idol. I can thoroughly relate to Kara’s reaction, although I may not have been quite as forthcoming as she. However, were I sitting in Kara’s place at the time, I too would have been marblemouthed. All this to say, Casey’s voice – even if only in that particular instance – was almost ethereal. Each note was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. It is quite apparent he will not be the next American Idol if the general public has any say in the matter. Sadly, the general public interested in events such as these is quite young and perhaps musically challenged and more interested in trend and appearance. Casey, although young from my vantage point, is the oldest contestant. Musically, he seems to be an “old soul” (and it warms my heart). I totally agree with Simon’s recent comments that Casey sounded like a cover band, but I still cannot forget the quality of Casey’s voice. All I can say is…” Casey, if you could write some of your own music, put your heart into it, and go from there… you may put your name on a very, very large map. For the record, I am 60 year old left over hippie who has had the extremely good fortune of having heard the best and worst of music for several decades, so I know shit from shinola. My advice to you… Never EVER stop! Oh… one more thing… I totally admire your having renovated your home. I like a man of substance. You are a rare gem in the cesspool of obliviousness.“ And the likes of Miley and whomever won’t kill ya unless you let ‘em!

I listened to him without looking at him, and he reminds me of legendary Bob Seger. Could not believe Simon did not hear that.
The sound comes out clean, emotional, heartfelt, and genuine. I would definately buy this and I think it would be a hit single.

I don't know why they get all into looks and what they wear.. SEAL, Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John and a host of other stars are not
eye candy. I look away from t.v. screen and listen as I am not going to stare at the CD case I am going to listen to the music.

Casey, wow!!! His performance of "Heaven" was great, the best for me on the show. That guy has got star quality. I can see him making hit records, making movies and everything but he does not look better than Brad Pitt. Nobody looks better than Brad Pitt. But I love Casey, I'm a fan, and don't want to see him leave the show.

I liked his performance of "I don't want to be" too and thought that they were much too hard on him but I think he was much, much better than over 50% of the other guys so I hope the rest of America agree and he will be back.

My other favorite, Jermaine really screwed up but I'm hoping he'll get another chance because I see great potential. He just has to stop singing those old songs. Great song but it's a classic Marvin Gaye and he shouldn't have changed it or tried to cover it. It was perfection the way Marvin did it. Hey, it was beyond perfection. But he's a really great looking, talented guy.

I thought Casey was good in places, but his high notes seemed rather forced to me. I don't think he's the best of the season's guys. Not sure who is though.

It's sad that that is considered the top performance of the night. So sad... If Kara didn't have such a hard on for this guy, they would be saying he was just another sound-a-like.

well i think he is one of the best in this season. he can really sing.i can say that he's the package deal(looks + talent).. :)

He was a lot better than I thought he would be - I loved his blues guitar in Hollywood . I don't see the " eye candy" part but he can sing . I agree with Ellen - Kara's cougar-like lust for this guy and their playing that up while he sang , just detracted from his performance and was a negative for the poor guy.

Obviously , he will stick around and probably actually deserves to do so .

Honestly it wasnt as good as everyone is making it out to be. His vocals were pretty shaky and he wussed out on the high tough parts. This was very safe and i think its shitty that he didnt get called out on it. Terrible arrangement

Excellent song choice. Safe, but cleanly done and he carried through with the aformentioned charisma.

He was the best guy, sad to say, because he was so so. Lots of vibrato. Not as good as the original.

I guess this year will be dominated by 70s style soft rock guys. Not one of these guys could do something like what Lambert did last year with Black & White. Not one could power through a ballad like Anthony Callea. We have a few fairly nice voices. Most sound like what we already know on the radio.

The only potentially relevant one is actually the Todrick. The format of the show doesn't really suit him, though. The format works for guys who have performed a lot as solo acts and have rehearsed scores of covers.

Oh Kara you are so sickening................Give us a break..............Idol is going nowhere with you on it...............And for this contestant you are decent but not don't let them abuse you this way......the hype of American Idol..............

Casey has a great voice and I can't believe how well he performed in spite of the pre and post commentary about Kara's reaction to him. He handled it like a professional and I think he's got the kind of voice you'd recognize if you heard it on the radio. Clearly, Casey, Krystal and Lilly are top contenders.

the thing that effected me the most, was what happened after the song...
i've do HR, and seriously, a person would be fired for saying much less to
a co worker. and yes men do get harrassed, especially by older women...

its noticeable that Casey,crosses his arms in front of his chest in a defensive
mode, and many times while he's smiling, you will see his mouth turn down in the corners, showing his obvious discomfort. the last shots of him, his face goes serious and his eyes look shamed.. all signs of stress in a situation...

he probably doesnt like how this takes away from his legitamacy in this contest.
a court would site Kara, if the film was used in a case against her for harrasment.

I was embarrassed by the way the judges conducted themselves over Casey; especially Kara. Totally high-school! Plus bordering on sexual harassment if you ask me. C'mon; the guy IS gorgeous, but let him sing without talking about him being unclothed, for crissakes! I thought this version of the Bryan Adams song was a little bit weak in spots but he does seem to have a natural talent as a performer. My favorite so far.
(oh, and I like his hair better in a ponytail, heh!)

More useless criticism from the judges and Idol bloggers. I really wish there was a place online where I could discuss these performances with actual musicians. "oooh i love his haiiirrr!! heheeee" is getting really annoying. Clearly this guy and Krystal Bowersox are the most talented pair on the show, but the judges don't care about any of that. I reallllly wish they would tone down the "industry talk" a bit. I don't care that there are thousands of Crystal's on the streets of NY and LA, the point is that she worked her ass off to do well on this show, and everyone else didn't. The fact that marketability of the artist is 80% to raw talent's 20% is just sort of depressing.

Pardon the rambling. Moral: Casey James is clearly one of the most talented people in the show this season. He's got a great focused but energetic tone, and his guitar skills are paralleled only by Crystal's. (PS. Was Michael Lynch even playing the guitar?)

Average performance. Nothing spectacular but he was one of the "best" tonight. Girls love him so I'm sure he'll make it to the next round.
