Excellent performance! He is definitely on the top again. His originality and his true musical talent set him apart. I find Pia very generic and quite boring.
Excellent performance! He is definitely part of the top 5. His originality and his true musical talent set him apart.
he's a great musician. maybe like Crystal Bowersox.
He's so good but will never be that relevant artist in this modern times.
Idol clearly stated that the are looking for the next Michael Jackson,
Bieber, Charice and Miley. And so sad but true, Casey is just another Bowersox.
How many deaf people does it take to keep this guy on the show? I don't understand how he got saved. YES, that's right, he was voted OFF two shows ago. Hopefully, it won't be too long again before he gets the boot again. The good news is he really does not stand a chance to have a major fan base if he ever gets any kind of contract.
Having said that... I do think that Casey has to cultivate performances that has more of a crescendo. Something that builds to a climax. Most of his performances don't have an arc and they kind of just stay there, even if he's so good and likeable. It's the job of the producers to help him with this.
I don't know why ppl criticize his singing? His singing is fantastic! It's expressive, full of characters and colors. He's always in tune and most often has original phrasing. It always feels present.
So what if he doesn't hit the high notes like a machine. But you feel him, and that's one of a great kind of singing.
I love when Casey plays his upright bass. Randy's right, he's making that instrument COOL. One of the best of the night. So glad they saved him.
It's interesting that some are comparing him to Bob Dylan on here because Bob Dylan has been accused of being phony by some.
Yes Bob Dylan. That's who I think of when I hear him. He hits all the notes and I liston to him over and over when the shows over.
I think Casey is a brilliant singer. His imperfections are what makes him interesting... and perfect. Brilliant musician. Brilliant entertainer. I think he's amazing, and I feel the same way about Paul...
Oh Casey, you make me love bearded singers who can play the upright bass. Very nicely done again!! :)
Kelly Clarkson just tweeted: ''I might have a bit of a crush on Casey on American Idol this season. He's super cute and obviously super talented. Great job tonight man!''
Casey has a great sense of humor but I can tell when he's having fun and putting on and when he's genuinely feeling - and there is nothing phony about him. If he was putting on a phony act, I'm sure he would not be so physically ill that he would end up in the hospital, as he did. I was very concerned about his health. He's not the greatest singer in the world, but BOB DYLAN - HELLO! Casey is the whole package, though, and I enjoy his performances each time, and he almost always is pitch perfect.
That was a "Moment" for me. Great performance! And great decision to change the song. If he did "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" it would have bombed. That's just not a good song to perform on Idol
Is there no one else that finds this guy incredibly annoying? Yes he is a great musician but I find that he doesn't really sing that well. The annoying part is all his mannerisms and facial expressions seem very rehearsed and not very genuine, like they are just a distraction to make you think he is singing better than he is. Also, I just thought he was a huge drama queen on the night he was saved and he came off as fake than too.
This was AWESOME.
I really hope his fans pul him through! One of the most talented contestants ever.
Great bass player, great personality, very entertaining. But not such a great singer. I'm afraid he'll be gone soon and I still think he was a wasted save, two weeks ago.
Casey is the real deal people great entertainer and performer not like Pia who is very dull and same ol same ol ballads boring.
Karaoke-ish! Do you know what the word KARA OKE means?
In Japanese it means EMPTY (KARA) SONG (UKE). It means you sing with empty instruments ( meaning your background music is canned ).
How can Casey Abrams singing with an upright bass even meet the definition of the word?
You're just throwing that term around without understanding what it means.
Hallelujah! You're not the only one who thinks Casey is annoying and not genuine on stage. I feel for the guy because of his health problems and he seems nice. But all his theatrics and facial expressions really are a distraction from the fact that he has just a mediocre voice. The guy can play the bass well and could be in a band doing that, but he doesn't belong behind the mic. People are blinded by his passion, I think. He's so passionate on stage that he's won people over but if you shut your eyes and listen, imagine it on the radio, the voice is nothing special. Passion is no substitute for vocal talent.
I think you've hit the nail on the head. He's a good performer and has an interesting voice, but kind of bland and boring too.
They over exaggerate with Pia yeah wow she can hold a note for more than three seconds big whoop so did Melinda Doolitle, Jennifer Hudson. Plus Casey would sell more albums than Pia anyday because Casey has something different the blues and he can make a song his own. Pia on the other hand there are already enough artist like her in the business long notes long notes screaming long notes are too boring now. David Cook when he sang billie Jean held a long note but it was awesome because he switched the song and made it his own like Hello by lionel richie.......different make it your own something Pia lacks!
