Since you have made a so called moderator out of this guy Mikhail Xo, You do not need me to read this web site anymore. Who ever he is , I have never read comments so ridiculously self serving & self righteous. Plus comments without any real intelligent opinion being put forth. He seems mor This site is a joke BYE
Who is this Mikhail XO person anyway? as a moderator... you should really try to moderate your comments... I thought this kind of forum was for people to come an express their opinion. You seem to go out of your way to reply to anyone who doesn't have the same one you have... Relax...
She set the standard for Hallelujah in future idol, x factor, etc. Just amazing. She didn't oversing it, was just right
I am thrilled with the song choice.. written by Canadian Leonard Cohen Just happens to be my favorite song and I think Carly did an amazing job. I think we saw three very different songs from Carly once again showing her versatility and how she manages to make every song her own. Yes, I hope we are looking at the winner no question she is by far deserving!! There is a difference between a spiritaul song and a religeous song... so no this was not for the Bible belt
@Pentarus It seems mikhail XO has the need for all to agree with him/her I hope you are not the next person that this moderator suggests to move on because you have your own point of view. How foolish was I to think I could express my opinion. Perhaps the Bluebird of Happiness piddled in somebodys cereal : )
@mwk89 It's "over used" because it's a great song to showcase someone's vocal ability. Carly did it just right, that was a 5 million dollar performance. Everyone else was average.
@Mikhail XO Mikhail we are definitely hearing and seeing very different things. Carly's emotion, expressions and soulful vocal stylings move me to tears ...and having been around long enough to have enjoyed some of the greatest voices of the past- it takes a very special singer to get me to that point.
When I hear Tate or 5th Harmony - I'm hearing talent but I'm hearing nothing that sets them apart from every other singer. I'm looking for something different. Carly brings the difference every time she sings.
Not sure what your beef with that first song was...man, it's a classic...I could listen to that all day! She nailed it on every level and connected with me (and apparently a lot of others judging from comments I've read on line) just fine.
Her ability? It doesn't make me an expert but - as a retired music teacher of 34 years I have seen and heard thousands of students of all ages and all levels of talent...my opinion is that her singing goes way beyond "decent". I'd place it in the "phenomenal" category. My ears and eyes tell me this 13 year old will move very quickly out of the "pop princess" category and move into the "singing legend" category pretty quickly.
As to the song choice..."The Voice" chose this song as a dedication to honor the slain children in Newtown. I did not feel it was inappropriate in either performance. Just my opinion...
@mwk89 Going to have to disagree here, I just don't have a bad thing to say about that performance.
@Presto Let me apologize if I am seen as contributing to the arrogant BS. That was NOT my intent. I agree with your comment wholeheartedly and my remarks were simply directed specifically to comments that personally berate others for their point of view. We should all be able express ourselves politely no matter if we agree or disagree. Again I am sorry if my comments were taken to mean anything else...
@Mikhail XO @BarbEaton @marshcode Stop with the arrogant BS... for some reason you find it difficult to admit that someone like Carly can be so fricking talented that even at 13 years of age... she can sing many songs better than the original artists. She has a wonderful voice and a ton of control well beyond her age... and performs at a level better than anyone I have ever seen on one of these types of shows. She also understands the business and knows what she wants. She has been wonderfully entertaining throughout the entire competition... while all the others boring and mediocre.
Sure, she can and will definitely improve but the basic talent is unmistakable and almost magical. Every song she has performed in this competition is a keeper while all the rest of the contestants are already forgotten.
It will be interesting to watch her star rise in the future.... 10, 9, 8, 7, 6,....
@Mikhail XO @BarbEaton @marshcode Well good, it seems I made your day! Hyper-sensitive fanatic? No. I simply feel you or anyone is entitled to their opinion, however manners, politness and etiquette in social media is something we can all aspire to. I find no benefit or graciousness to continue this ...
@Mikhail XO @marshcode My my my... If you were an effectionado with regards to Leonard Cohen you might realize that Hallelujah is far more than a piece "that contains sexual overtones" First of all Carly sang only three verses ..#1 #4 #3 The verse you are refering to is #5 which actually has him remembering when things in his relationship were good, how their lovemaking made him feel they were really together and their Hallelujahs were those of joy and ecstasy.
It seems you have not inturpreted the song totally or correctly as this song has much more depth than you credit the author. Perhaps we can suggest YOU take a second look, and reevaluate the meanings of each verse... your remark of sexual overtones is not the meaning of the entire song! I am sorry to also notice as a moderator your rudeness might be something to consider as well
