C.J. Harris vs. Casey Thrasher – American Idol 2014 – Top 30 Reveal

C.J. Harris and Casey Thrasher had a sing-off on the American Idol XIII 2014 Top 15 guys selection.

C.J. sang “Whipping Post” and Casey sang “Don’t Ya”.

This is going to be close! Maybe the two of them made it? We’ll find out on Thursday.

I like C.J. My vote is for him.

At any rate, I like how American Idol has effectively added another part of The Voice into the proceedings: the one-on-one battle for survival. The Idol version is low key but the influence of The Voice is there. This is something that never would have happened with the old production team. I like that this new Idol is more open to other ideas. The sing-off works.

The show is still sooooooo sloooooowwwwww.  And why don't they create some groups a la X Factor.  The Backstreet Cowboys was an inspired idea.  I don't get why they don't just run with it.  They could actually have some success post show.

Really like this Sing Off Battle Round. I think CJ will make it

With the exception of the group performance -- and I think that was just a blip -- CJ seems to be getting exponentially better.  I think he has enormous growth potential as the season progresses providing he gets good coaching and picks good songs.
