Bones – Season 8 Episode 13 – Recap – The Twist in the Plot
The recap of Bones – Season 8 Episode 13 – The Twist in the Plot:
The episode started off with a couple riding scooters through the woods… until the wife fell into a pile of road beetles. She and her husband discovered a body buried underneath a bunch of dirt. Though the wife was scared out of her mind, the husband was having a laugh. The murder victim was a Caucasian female in her early 30’s named Rachel Knox. Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and the gang also found another body buried underneath Rachel, at the scene of the crime. The second body belonged to a woman named Monica Craig who was suffering from lung cancer at the time of her death. (However, her cancer didn’t cause her to die—something else did).
Brennan, Hodgins (T.J. Thyne), Angela (Michael Conlin), Cam (Tamara Taylor), Sweets (John Francis Daley), and Booth (David Boreanaz) originally disregarded Monica’s case because they initially believed that her cancer was her cause of death. They were wrong. In the latter half of the episode, they discovered that she was poisoned with Methylone.
Booth & Brennan told Sweets that intern Daisy (Carla Gallo) would be coming back to work in the lab, and then they asked him if he would be okay with that (since she’s his ex-girlfriend). Brennan also took this opportunity to ask Sweets if he’s seeing someone else:
Brennan: “Have you (Sweets) had sex with another woman yet?”
Sweets: “I’m sleeping in Parker’s (Booth’s son) room. It’s kinda hard to bring home a woman when you’re sleeping in Wolverine sheets.
Daisy acted a bit odd in the lab. She was acting very professional—kind of like how Brennan usually acts in the lab. I think this was her way of coping with the break-up, and coping with the emotions of seeing her ex (Sweets) for the first time since the break-up. She told Sweets that she’s currently seeing another man, and that she thinks her & Sweets’ relationship was a mistake. However, she truly doesn’t believe so because she informed Cam that she still dreams about Sweets from time to time:
Daisy: “I’m thinking about him (Sweets) again.”
Cam: “You lost something wonderful, but keep moving forward. It’ll get better, I promise. And uh, stop copying Dr. Brennan [‘s personality], it’s a little creepy.”
The other body—Rachel Knox—was Monica’s dula (or, death consultant/caregiver). Rachel washed Monica’s body day in and day out, and basically took care of Monica during her last days. Rachel was working with a man named Muirza—who also happened to be her ex-boyfriend. They were only together for 3 months, since she had this strict policy of only dating men for three months at a time. Rachel also had an affair with Monica’s husband—which Monica wasn’t aware of.
Rachel died because her spine was crushed by a burial marker/stone, and Monica died because her own husband poisoned her. Mr. Craig—Monica’s husband—killed Rachel after their 3-month affair had ended because he didn’t understand how she could move on so quickly. Two days later, he killed Monica by overdosing her with Methylone. What a horrible man! He even lied to the FBI by stating that Monica overdosed herself (he claimed it was suicide, not murder).
Hodgins revealed that when he dies, he would like to be launched into the sun, since all life came from the sun. Brennan revealed that when she dies, she would like for her ashes to be sprinkled over a volcano. She changed her will after Booth disapproved of her previous version (she had previously planned a celestial burial). Receiving a bit of inspiration from Brennan’s will, David videotaped himself talking to baby Christine in past tense. (This video will be saved later for Christine to watch after Booth dies). Brennan stood in the background during David’s speech… she overheard everything he said, and she gave him a big hug at the end of the speech.
No!!! I don’t want to think of Booth & Brennan’s deaths! It’s too difficult to think about—even as a viewer. I hope this show never gets cancelled. I love Bones!
