I am so happy that one of my favorite actors (here I go again), Victor Rasuk, is starring in the new film Lords of Dogtown which opens June 3. Victor plays Ton Alva, one of the legendary Z-boys, surfers-turned-extreme-skateboarders, who are basically credited for creating the "extreme-sports" that we know today. (You should probably read the synopsis on the official website since I am ignorant to these things.)

Victor last starred in the critically-acclaimed Raising Victor Vargas which is one of my favorite movies of all time. I first saw him by chance on TV four years ago in a short film called Five Feet High and Rising, which is conveniently included in the Raising Victor Vargas Special Edition DVD.

I am so happy that he has a new movie again. I can’t wait.

10. Power of Love - Nadia Turner. Yay, we’re starting the list with Nadia. This Semi-Final performance was so refreshing, it certainly earned her a slot in the Finals. Though Nadia would try to make You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me as her signature song (she sang it in the album), Power of Love defined her, and was her best performance.

The Top 10 Most Controversial Moments This Year!

10. Idol changes semi-final rounds. Instead of 4 groups of semi-finalists,
we got 12 boys and 12 girls, eventually ending up with 6 boys and 6
girls in the finals. The wildcard show was scrapped. This was the first
clear sign of this year’s manipulations as it guaranteed equal
representation of the sexes regardless of talent. It was quite possible
that the boys could have dominated the finals in the old format, or
given the lack of boys in last year’s competition, it just simply
guaranteed more of them. Take your pick, but quite simply, Idol got the
equal number of sexes they wanted whether or not the voters wanted it.

Unfortunately, this little soap opera, played itself out (and is still playing) in various Idol message boards. Anthony’s ex (is it safe to use this already?) started posting cryptic messages on the boards which caught everybody’s attention and imagination. There was a follow up post recently which more or less (again cryptic) confirms what we were thinking couldn’t possibly happen. So alas, yes, the power of saying a silent "I love you", teary eyed in front of 35 million people! It will cause a break up! Sigh.

Wow. Are you guys excited or what?

The odds-makers are now placing Bo Bice as the winner, although its a close race with Carrie Underwood. I think it’s more 50/50, only Fox knows for sure on soooo many levels.

Both Bo and Carrie are also being rumored to be sick leading to tonight’s show! Carrie has allergies and Bo has a sore throat. I hope they get better! It cannot be croak Idol tonight.

My own tracking on this site shows that interest in Bo has climbed significantly and is now neck and neck with Carrie. Carrie still leads in search requests overall but only slightly. Overwhelmingly however, more Bo fans want to listen to his songs. So it is apparent that there are new fans watching the show right now leading to tonight who want to listen to what this Bo guy is all about. Now that’s not from thin air. I may have unreliable and skewed data but at least its something I can base judgment on. Haha. Which only cements my other theory that Carrie fans have been here for the long haul and know what to do. I don’t know if the "new" Bo fans will realize that voting 10 times for him will be enough (which it isn’t).

There will be many lines open, so hopefully, not too many busy signals. If you really want your Idol to win, then vote non-stop until the bitter end. It’s the only way to go. Good luck!

P.S. Wednesday is shaping up to be a great day for all the fans, as the Idols will be singing with some famous people. We know about Lynyrd Skynyrd and Rascall Flatts, but Anthony with Kenny G? Really? Constantine with Aerosmith? Is this true? I’m excited!

American Idol Rumors and Blah 65

Sorry for the lack of posts. I watched Star Wars once again and then basically tried to earn a living. That’s a good thing, right?

Tuesday of course is the big day, and there has been much speculation about what Carrie and Bo will sing over the past few days. For their "personal" choice, I really think that it should be "Whipping Post" and "Alone", however, the last I read, again speculation, it will be "Vehicle" and "Independence Day", which are not bad, but just not the "best" songs so far.

I have also read that on the Wednesday results show, Carrie and Bo will sing with a known band for one of their songs: Bo will be performing with Lynyrd Skynyrd and Carrie will be performing with Rascal Flatts which according to their website will be "Bless the Broken Road".

I also read that there will only be one "Idol" song. If this is true, then we’ll see how they mess up the arrangement to either fit Bo or Carrie. We will all have a better sense of what will happen on Wednesday after Tuesday night.

Clearly the momentum has shifted to Bo’s side after last week’s performances. All the major media outlets are now boldly predicting that he will win, and maybe American Idol did want a white male winner this year. Carrie however has a tremendous fan base that has existed from the start of the competition, is Simon’s favorite, "looks" like the American Idol and has never been in the bottom 3. The lack of a breakout song however with the exception of Alone, which she might not sing, has been her weakness. Bo on the other hand has Whipping Post, I Don’t Wanna Be, Vehicle and Remedy (and even Spinning Wheel) which have been quite memorable. As I said before, I really think it hinges on Carrie on Tuesday. Just two minutes of perfection, particularly with the Idol single is all she needs.

My last post on the finale solicited such strong emotions from people, opening up a new one is a little scary. But then it’s only one more week (and then an extra week for the winners to be elated and the losers needing to vent their sorrow), so you all just have to bear with me. Some hateful comments came out of the woodwork all of a sudden, which we were not really prepared for, specially since Carrie and Bo are very nice guys. I assumed their fans would be the same. Can we all just get along?

I just want to thank Trina from Memphis, TN who bought me the Willy Wonka Special Edition DVD from my Amazon wishlist. It is specially touching because I removed the wishlist link here a couple of weeks ago because in the past few years it has been there, no one has bought me anything. So she went out of her way to find my list and got me something. I’m speechless! Willy Wonka was one of my favorite movies when I was boy. I used to rent it all the time and just be fascinated. Thanks, Trina.

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith 26

* SPOILER ALERT *

The sad news is that Anakin Skywalker does turn into Darth Vader. I was devastated! I think this movie absolutely worked for me because I’m one of the few people who refused to believed that this nice boy would turn to the dark side and go on a killing spree, and yet he did! It’s a tragedy for me, I won’t be able to sleep. I guess its because I just love Hayden Christensen and seeing him in that Vader suit crushed me.

Rumors have been circulating that Hayden is gay. All I know is in this film, it’s quite clear which ’side’ Hayden is on. He and Natalie Portman have absolutely ZERO CHEMISTRY. Oh, so you had sex with this girl? Yeah right. By comparison, in his scenes with Ewan McGregor, the sparks fly (literally). Oh, and they also kiss lips to lips during the movie premiere in the London. Hot!

The second spoiler… well the first one wasn’t really, huh? is that the film is quite violent. I think watching Kill Bill Vol. 1 a couple of times has already desensitized me, but if I had watched Episode 3 when I was a boy, lets say 11, I would absolutely be traumatized by some of the scenes. You have been warned. This is not for children people!

That being said, the graphics were superb, the pacing just right and just the right amount of laughs and Star Wars mythology were added in — the awards for best non-speaking roles go to Chewbacca and R2-D2. Of course, there were scripting flaws and lapses in logic, but this is the type of movie where you simply say who cares (it was actually fun to watch the sappy "love" dialog). It also helped that I was in an audience full of appreciative fans, some even wielding lightsabers which was totally cool. (I want a lightsaber!) We were applauding the movie every chance we got. Geeks love Star Wars.

I think this movie definitely completed my childhood today. Star Wars is the film of my generation, and this third movie makes up for the disastrous first two. It’s really the perfect setup for the next three movies.

I must also give a shoutout to Juliana whom I watched the movie with at the Ziegfeld. The line went around one block, but some  guys who were first in line put some bogus "reserved seats" in some of the seats, and we stole the seats from them! So we actually ended up with good seats. Yay for Juliana!

I love you Hayden. I know its make believe. You really didn’t turn into Darth Vader! Haha. I’m such a dork.
