Lewis Hamilton wins the Belgian Grand Prix after a wild final 3 laps, when rain hit the race track. Kimi Raikkonen was leading the race when Lewis successfully passed him. Kimi passed Lewis, but Kimi ended up spinning (as the rain fell) giving Lewis the lead. Kimi spun again and hit the wall.

I apologize in advance that this recap is so long. I just didn’t want to leave anything out (more for my benefit than anything else).

Afternoon Buses
So buses before the show were pretty mellow compared to Detroit. I arrived around 11:30 and met Desi and her mom Kathy at Camp Mavezie. This time we came prepared with lawn chairs, a cooler, and my mp3 player. We jammed out to Idol tunes for a few hours and had fun posing with Flat Jason. The local newspaper interviewed us. You can see the article here.

We were confused because 3 buses were already parked at the venue and I only remember 3 pulling in at Detroit. Then we heard the security guy say the other buses should arrive around 2:00 so we waited patiently and had more fun with Flat Jason. We screamed as the buses finally pulled into the gated area around 1:30. Desi freaked out because she saw a poster our friend Kara had made for the guys hanging in the bus window. Kara later got confirmation from Michael that it’s been in the window ever since she gave it to them (in Philadelphia I believe). It was a collage of drawings. She’s a fabulous artist.

We are putting together an “American Idol Thank You Book” from the viewers of Rickey TV to give to all the Idols during the Tulsa show. Why? Because we want to thank Chikezie, Ramiele Malubay, Michael Johns, Kristy Lee Cook, Carly Smithson, Brooke White, Jason Castro, Syesha Mercado, David Archuleta and David Cook for entertaining us this Summer! We saw them in concert, waited for them at the buses, met them in the Meet and Greets and After Parties, and even listened to them on the “best worst show ever” on Rickey TV. We believe a thank you is in order. Our goal is to give each of the Idols a big fat book full of Thank You letters from all the 700+ viewers who watched the American Idols Live! Tour cellcasting show on Rickey TV this summer.

What to do:

1. Scan a hand-written note (drawings accepted) or write a one-page letter in e-mail or Word, thanking ALL THE IDOLS. If you want to thank an Idol specifically, make sure you thank EVERYONE ELSE before you do, since we are giving this book to everyone. We are proof-reading and spell-checking every letter so yours may be rejected if you do not do this.

I was a little disappointed that we didn’t win this auction, but it’s comforting to know that we can self-regulate. Everything was fine yesterday evening, until 15 minutes before closing, a panicked bidding war ensued.

At 5:26, the highest bid was $2,300 for 4 tickets to Grease and Dinner with Ace Young. At 5:46, a reserve price of $3,000 was triggered. Then FIFTEEN MINUTES later, the winning bid was $5,700! Unbelievable. I’m sure that neither of the two bidders thought the auction would reach that high — if they did, they would have bid $5,000 outright. In the end, they were bidding just to win against each other — like a pissing match with each other’s savings account. (Yes I am bitter that I am not that rich… or foolish.) You can see the insanity play out here in the last frantic minutes.
