Rickey,

Meant to do your survey a few time and now it's too late.
Well, just so you know....latina chica here...
I am also on a Mac and don't live in NYC.

Janice

Haha GirlyGirl45, poor Hesterprune :P Actually I can vote for Sanjaya. There is no problem because I am living in India. It allows me to vote. (But I am a lazy guy who doesnt vote much and can appreciate your help :P) I was only asking Rickey if I can take his survey coz his survey has many US specific questions. He seems to be busy hehe :)

Okay, Rickeyjayas. I put in a few votes for internationaljaya Coco, and I'll do the same for my comrades JohnDoe and the Inept Hesterprune, lol. (Hester, it tickles me down to the toes that I can clear cookies and you can't, hahaha. Just call me GirlyWoman) ;-)

Hesterprune, you give me too much credit hehe. So you are using a different version. I havent used that so I dont know about it fully. Rickey's idea works great. Rickey, you havent replied to my question yet. Am I eligible to take your survey as an Indian living in India? :)

The trick is to browse rickey.org with one browser like Firefox, then do the voting on another one, like Opera or IE. That way you won't lose your cookies on rickey.org, while you are doing the delete thing in the other browser.

I think it might be better to browse rickey.org with IE (temporarily) then do the voting in Firefox because that's easier to clear cookies with.

Don't give up hester. Sanjaya's award is at stake! We don't want Evel Dick to get it. The forces of good must prevail! SAN... JAYA!

JohnDoe: you are patience personified. So I gave it one last shot.

"Error message" wasn't really an error msg - just that thing that says Sorry you've already voted. Ugh.

So I followed your instructions re temporary internet files and cookies. I don't have anything that says delete offline content. I have the latest version of explorer whichever that is (tabbed browsing). 7.0, maybe? So I do all that, refresh the page ... and it still says "sorry you voted" and then I come back to Rickey and I have to log in like some VISITOR. lol. Like locking yourself out of the house. Or coming home without your key and having to ring the door bell to get in.

I really, really, really don't think there's any hope for me, JohnDoe.

Aww you posted a second time before I managed to type that blah blah. You are getting some error message other than "you have already voted"? That must mean something else. What error message you get? Sorry I dont mean to bother you. If you had enough, please ignore this post hehe.

Hehe Hesterprune, I shouldnt have dared to say that you are not doing it right. But I know you would put up with it for Sanjaya ;) I just opened Internet Explorer (which I dont usually use) to try again. I voted. Didnt close the page or browser. Just went to tools->internet options and in general tab (which is the default page in that window) clicked on the "delete cookies" button (have to click two Ok buttons after this to get the job done and get rid of the options window) Then I reloaded the page and voted again. I didnt disconnect the net and reconnect. So the server is clearly not keeping track of IP addresses. The only evidence it has is in your cookies. May be you are using a different Internet Explorer version. I am using version 6.something It must be old. Clearing history must not be the deal here. The server wont be looking in your history. You may also try the button next to "delete cookies" button with caption "delete files." In the next small window tick the box which says "delete all offline content" and then click Ok (You would lose all cached pages but mostly we dont need it) I hope this helps.

ok. I. Suck. at. Life.

JohnDoe, I hear you. I really do. I did everything you said. Tools>internet options>delete cookies? Check. Refresh page? Check. Vote for Sanjaya? CRASH & BURN. Stupid error message. It knows me, I tell ya! It's ok, JohnDoe. You did your best. There is no hope for the likes of me.

Sanjaya, I did my best ... but my best just wasn't good enough. I'm accepting defeat and leaving this one in more capable hands.

Not doing it right? Not doing it right???!! How DARE you?

*pause*

You're right. I'm probably not doing it right. Still, I've done everything you just described, plus going back and deleting history AND closing my browser.

OK once more unto the breach, dear friends. *sigh* Only for you, Sanjaya. Only for you.

Hesterprune, You dont hook your PC to internet 24 hours a day. Do you? And I assume you dont have a static IP address. So no way the server recognizes you after 48 hours but for the only culprit called cookie. You are not doing it right I think. When I tried with Internet Explorer.. I didnt even close the page. I just went to tools->internet options and deleted the cookies. And reloaded the page.. and it let me vote again.

I can't vote for Sanjaya again. Even though 48 hours have passed since I first voted, it still tells me "sorry you already voted." And yes, I cleared cookies and history, closed browser, etc. I can't deal any more. :-(

I took the survey as soon as it came out like a good little Rickeyjaya!

RICKEY, I was happy to take the survey when I first saw it, realizing you were once again putting your readers and their interests up front. Thank you for all you do. And thankfully, I have not seen any of the Coultergiest ads...

What is an Indian living in India supposed to do? Am I eligible to take this survey and what to do with the US specific questions?

OMG -- why are we getting Ann Coulter e-mail Google Ads??? Coulter begone!

Bless you, Rickey, you've put Sanjaya's interests ahead of yours ("and after you have voted for Sanjaya"). :-) You are such a sweetie.

(and I did my best to respond to the survey a few days ago--hope you get a good response and that the results are useful to you)
