Beijing To Host 2022 Winter Olympics, Despite Not Having Natural Snow

Beijing, with its bad breathable air and lack of natural snow, has been selected to host the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Beijing was one of two choices for the games as other potential hosts dropped out due to financial expense. The other city in the running was Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Beijing will “co-host” the games with another Chinese city Zhangjiakou, but that city’s name was dropped in the bid.
