Anna Kendrick to Perform at the Oscars 2015

Anna Kendrick is the latest performer added to the lineup for the 87th Academy Awards in two weeks.

“Out of the woods and on to the Oscar stage, Anna will be performing something special that is sure to be an ‘Only on the Oscars’ moment,” said show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron in a statement.

The Into the Woods and Pitch Perfect star joins a list of performers that includes Rita Ora, Tim McGraw, Common and John Legend, Adam Levine, and host Neil Patrick Harris, who will be singing a new showtune written by Oscar-winning “Let It Go” songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez.

However, it’s not exactly clear what she’ll be performing on the ceremony. Granted, it’s not clear what Jack Black is going to be up to either. Perhaps they’ll simply join in on a medley with Neil Patrick Harris. Or maybe they’ll team up to perform Best Original Song nominee “Everything Is Awesome” from The LEGO Movie. If so, they’d hardly be the only performers taking the place of the original artist, although Tim McGraw is only performing on behalf of Glen Campbell because Campbell’s Alzheimer’s has left him unable to perform his nominated song himself.

Regardless of what Kendrick is doing at the Oscars 2015, I’m excited for this. I absolutely love Anna Kendrick in just about everything she does. She’s a talented performer and should make for a welcome addition to the telecast. I’m stoked for the Oscars, since this is shaping up to be a great show.
