Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin — New Year’s Eve 2009 — Gasp!

They were hilarious together! I loved it. So much more fun than the other channels' hosts. I absolutely adore Anderson Cooper, and he and Kathy were great fun. I hope they do it again next year. :)

I love Kathy Griffin because she makes fun about the unglamourous part of show business without fear.

And the people who get all bent out of shape about what she says or how she says it are exactly the people who need it.

Wow, if that's not a personal attack, I don't know what is. Who the hell are you to judge. I'm just stating my opinion. Some of us prefer women who don't talk like the proverbial truck driver.

It's one thing to have a foul mouth as a stand up when your audience is there to revel in crude topics and language (they know what they're in for), it is clearly a different story to have a loose cannon like KG live on national television. What I meant was she doesn't have the exposure she had when she was on TV. Hosting a New Years Eve broadcast on CNN is not exactly steady work.

Yes, we have freedom of expression. Yes, the United States Supreme Court had ruled that the State has no right to cleanse public debate to the point where it is gramatically palatable among us. But civil society and decent people still believe in and practice as a general rule
that freedom of expression and that Supreme Court ruling do not give us a blanket license to be vulgar, offensive and licentious.

I was attracted to post here at RICKEY.ORG because one of RICKEY'S Cardinal Rule is "Foul and offensive language will be edited or deleted."

I must also add that the media and other public forums do not tolerate nor accept vulgar and foul language. TV and radio stations censor vulgarities. The print medium doesn't print these unprintables.

The "F" word and other vulgar and offensive words are not ideas at all. These words are gutter
language. One thing is clear. Vulgar and foul words are not cognitive. These words do not go through the person's mind and intellect.

I'm posting this because decent and good people
firmly believe that they must express their point of view when confronted by an uncouth person. Decent people don't expect respect. They are aware that respect has to be earned. But, decent and good people do expect civility in human relations specially when children and minors are present and are involved. Furthermore, human civilization started when people practised civility towards one another. Humans interacted better and more productively among themselves. Civilization flourished. If we stop being civil to
one another, there would be chaos and we could revert back to barbarism.

I love this pairing!!! I love it cause Anderson indeed has to be on his toes to keep up with Kathy cause you never know what will happen....it's live tv. As for Kathy herself, my goodness I love this woman!!! She's bold, crass, she tells it like it is....she's not a suck up and kisses every celebrities booties....Heck, the woman has won 2 Emmys and is nominated for a freakin' Grammy!!! I USED TO LOVE KATHY. LOVED WATCHING HER WITH HER MOTHER AND (LATE) FATHER ON HER SHOW.

LATELY - I HAVEN'T ENJOYED HER HUMOR AS MUCH. SHE'S GONE OVER THE EDGE THE LAST FEW TIMES I'VE SEEN HER ON TV AND I FOUND HER TO BE MORE RUDE THAN FUNNY.
